To be fair he's had little to do. He made a few good saves against Spurs and one from a Villa header tonight. That's a credit to the defence. While as a team we've been average, defensively we've been very solid.
@Treble Souness just used the word efficient so I apologise for everything last week. Everything he says is bollocks. Regardless of what it is.
Rooney just isn't a lead te line striker. The older he's got the less of a striker he's become and probably better playing behind a proper cf. doesnt have the the pace anymore to play there and run in behind, doesn't have the height to be a target man either. You and chelsea both need a new cf (Chelsea for back up to Costa) and you to replace or partner Rooney. Until then don't see you being proper title contenders.
You'll prob be more of a threat when your main player gets back and can go back to your hoofball tactics that were so successful last year
Which is ironic considering he used to be brilliant at leading the line as a lone striker. I'm hoping this is just early season rusty performance but I have to admit the exact same thought had crossed my mind AND the last thing he needs is to have no real competition for his position. He'll lose his hunger and become too comfortable at 30+
If we continue to be solid defensively van Gaal has to become more of a risk taker going forward. Last season I could understand his thinking in a way but as long as the back 4 play like the last two games, he needs to give licence to the attacking players. I don't think we are likely to see another Leicester type game again.
Rooneys notorious for being unfit early on in the season. Probably been on the pies and cigs all summer.
Bloody hell. 2 lucky wins and 6 lucky points This team will easily improve 30% -40%. The team is solid and looking difficult to beat. Difficult to judge Romero as he hardly had a shot to save. Rooney is off form. I think we need to meet the RS to discover the flair. I can't wait.
Those 6 points do look good after 2 games. Come Sunday evening we could be 5 ahead of the champions already. Though 4 would be better.
Well that was dull. Was surprised to see Blind picked as MOTM, not that he didn't play well, but who am I to disagree with GNev. I would have gone for Mata or Darmian. The noticeable thing about that team today was how slow it was, which is a problem we had last season. Depay was the only midfield/forward player who promised any kind of pace but he looked pretty pedestrian. Rooney was simply dreadful. Anyway, 6 points and the performances can only get better.
