What team are realistically going to come in for a player who has been out as long as he has without seeing him in a couple of games to judge if he is fit and playing as well as last season. I don't think we have anything to worry about - at least until January window. Worst case to include Clucas? - is this the same Clucas who scored in his first game for us?
I was wondering why Bruce would say this now if him/the owners didn't want him in the shop window. I want him to stay assuming he wants to play here.
Every time SB opens his gob he tells the world that all our quality players have buy-out clauses. He's either trying to move on those that want to go asap so he can find replacements in good time or he's just an incredibly thick Geordie.
If, after the last three years, you haven't discovered the answer to your second sentence, try looking at yourself as a hint.
Agents and clubs don't find out about buy out clauses in the media so it really doesn't matter what Bruce says on the matter.
If only Simon Walton was here, he could nobble him in training and keep him out for a few more weeks until the window was shut ..
True, I suspect his repeated comments are for our benefit, he's just reminding us that if our favourite players go, it's not his fault.
I actually agree with him. We don't want Diame to be fit until after the window closes so we at least have him until Xmas.
With the fee we paid for Diame being relatively small for a player of his quality (3.5m?), would it be fair to assume that his ‘buyout’ will be equal to or even smaller than the fee we paid? In terms of decency, Diame should stay the season.
Mo Diame is just a week away http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/diame-closing-in-on-return-2629208.aspx?
Diame Closing In On Return Midfielder could be back in action next week.... Steve Bruce has said that Mohamed Diame could be back in first team action next week – if the midfielder shows no adverse reaction following a return to full training. Diame, who scored four times in his first five appearances for the Tigers after signing from West Ham United almost a year ago, has been plagued by a knee problem since last November and, barring a couple of brief substitute appearances in April, missed the whole of the second half of last season. But having returned to full training last weekend, Diame has been in impressive form and Bruce could call upon the Senegal international for next Tuesday’s Capital One Cup tie at home to Rochdale. “Mo’s return to training has gone well,” said Bruce. “He’s joined in with four sessions now, although Fulham on Wednesday and Charlton on Saturday will be a bit too soon for him. “But if he trains all week then we’ll look at Rochdale as the platform for his first game. “Having Mo fit will be like having a new signing, and of course we’ve got Robert Snodgrass on his way back too. It will be great for everybody. “A fit Diame and a fit Snodgrass will be a delight to have.” http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...in-on-return-2629208.aspx#jPug2x7lGwqmcxXO.99
