Ayew on Haidara and Gomis on Colo could get to Lukaku on Mbiwa type comedy.

Exactly, and Ayew likes to cut inside so Colo will be copping it from him as well with the ball on the deck. Haidara and Colo were turned inside out in the last game in one on ones. There is an argument for playing Mbemba on the left side of the 2 CBs for this game to better cope with Ayew.

Good result last week for you boys, looks like your on the up, so I think a 2-1 win to the Mighty Swans is on the cards, though if it gets greedy then maybe 3-2 win to the Mighty Swans should see us get all 3 points. Hope you have a great season and start smashing your way up the table, though not against us on Saturday, safe journey to those that are travelling, including the big fat belly one who takes his shirt off!.............<laugh>

There's nothing wrong with peaceful protests. We got gubbed at Southampton so the fans who travelled miles had every right to vent their spleen. As for the Pardew Defence League members, his vile conduct towards players, managers and officials seem to get overlooked so often.

We should have just put him in the stocks and pelted him with rotten tomatoes outside of the Gallowgate.. Then tar and feather him.

I wholeheartedly disagree with playing Colback (or Anita for that matter) at full back unless we have no specialist there.

Colback and Anita played very well together against Southampton. I would argue that their effectiveness in the middle of the park outweighs the possibility that they may cope with Ayew a bit better than Haidara. Let's face it, he'd skin them both for pace and we'd be leaving ourselves more open to Shelvey etc through the middle.

While Haidara had a shocker, I can only hope that Schteve has had him watching what he did wrong against Tadic & co so that he can use his pace to at least pressure Ayew when he's trying to get a cross in.

I would start with the same team that controlled the game in the first 60 minutes of last week's game. Anita would have played the whole game last week if he hadn't been injured so that should free up an extra sub so we can bring Aarons on second half if Obertan's not doing the business.

Don't have a bad feeling. Don't think we'll get anything out of it but I think the performance will be positive and that the defence will be so obviously inadequate that reinforcements will be signed while there is still time

This. We'll pose a threat, probably get another Gini goal, think Cisse will be off colour but Mitro will come on and look good. Ultimately we'll lose because we have no chance defending crosses and set plays against monsters like Williams and Gomis. Whether we think Saylor is our saviour or not.....who knows. But Colo/Mbemba isn't the answer. And if it is, what's the fcking question?

This for me. If we have a problem at full back we need to fix it with a full back - not compromise our midfield fixing it. If the full backs aren't good enough then improve them or sign one.

Its not ideal I agree but Haidara is going to throw away a lot of points, confidence and good work if we continue. The solution is obvious, sign one.

We really are crying out for a new LB (despite the number that have been and gone in recent years).

If we don't get one however, I believe that with the right coaching Haidara can become a decent full back. We already know his attacking work is decent, if not great, but what he lacks in defence is basically focus from what I've seen. Missing trapping a ball is a school boy error but I can't believe that his co-ordination is that bad. Instead I reckon he's looking at what he wants to do with the ball next and stops concentrating on the basics. If we can get that focus in then we should see both his ball control and his positioning improve.

Edit: I've just re-read all that and even I don't fully believe it! Damn you optimism!

I'd love to have your faith (even if it is wavering).

I just do not rate Haidara at all. He is still fairly young but what concerns me most is the number of glaring problems with his game. Essentially being brutal, the lad is quick and whips in the odd decent ball. Otherwise he is just below the required standard. The league the way it is and the detail they drill down into, he'll just be picked apart week on week. He is young enough to improve but there is such a huge chasm between where he is and where he needs to get to, I just think you have to forget it. I am no Dummett fan either, but at least he is does defend properly and close the ball. My main issue is Colo is bullied so easily, that if you have a full back who gets exposed and allows time on crosses, we are in for a lot of pain.

The bottom line is I am disappointed we are sat here into the season having signed only one of the 3 required defenders everyone knew we need. I am so glad we signed Gini, Mbemba and Mitrovic. I just can't believe we've made that happen but struggled to sort out the main issue. Our defence has been terrible for the best part of 5 years.

Gomis is a donkey. I think a 3-1 win to us. Cisse, Sissoko and Obertan.
