I suppose one of the downsides of having a much-improved, stronger squad this season is that every Saints fan, in every game, will have a favourite player who may not even be on the bench. Tintin's team would be very strong, but it means no Juanmi, Jay Rod, Long, or JWP, and obviously not all of them will get on as a sub. I know they'll all get their chance in what will hopefully be a very busy season, but after the last few years of being thinly-stretched as a squad, this rotation lark will take some getting used to. And please, I'm really not complaining!

It's a shame we haven't been able to get VVD in before the game with Caulker out. Leaves us a little light with only Yoshi and Fonte.

Hadn't heard the Stuttgart rumour. Makse sense for us to sell those two though. We have more than enough CBs in the youth team and Wanyama and Romeu can play there too.

Just shows how rumours start. I totally invented the Maya/Stuggart thing to go alongside the Jose/Villa rumour. Neither is happening. :)

Does go to show how easy it is to start rumours...or how gullible I am :D
It was nice to see the Jose rumours so quickly quashed by Ron. Also, I hope it was obvious that I was being facetious saying that it makes sense to sell Jose and Maya!

Back 4 and GK picks itself. I would go with

    Steklenberg
    Cedric Fonte Maya Targett
    Vic Davis/Romeo
    Long Mane Tadic
    Pelle

See J Rod come on for last 1/2 hour or so along with JWP

I like this - I hope Long starts - he makes us look more dangerous going forwards.

    The stek
    Cedric Fonte Maya targett
    Wanyama Romeu
    Long Mane Tadic
    Pelle

This is what I would play, with Jrod and Davis coming off the bench.

    Just realized two things.

This will be the first time I've seen Saints play Everton since the 1984 F.A. Cup semi final. I think I've been subconsciously avoiding the fixture since.

I'm supposed to be back in Wimborne by 3pm tomorrow which will cut it rather fine.
Does anyone know if it's ok parking motorcycles outside the ground. I usually park in town and walk down but really need to get away pronto. I notice there's m/c (with pushbikes) parked up outside the Kingsland (where my seat is), just wondered if there's any restrictions.

Oh and another thing. One of my sad habits is to visit opposition's forums prior to us playing them (or KUMB when I just need a laugh). The Everton forum I looked at has really shocked me. There are always a few idiots on every site but for sheer venom and offensiveness GrandOldTeam excels. Serves me right for looking I guess.

I checked an Everton forum and thought the match thread was hilarious. Apparently Southampton is the sphincter of the UK <laugh>

    My favorite was -
"Anyway if there’s a club of mutant cockstashes that you don’t want to give any glimmer of hope to, then that’s Southampton as they're followed by the worst of what the UK has to offer. Utter texans, the lot of them. Texans who genuinely believe that their club is something of significance as they dull the rest of the league with their insular DEAD WACKY US behaviour. A ****ty little south English port that no one is arsed about. Nothing interesting ever has ever came out of Southampton and I for one am hoping all them immigrants bottle necked in Calais acting a bit leery actually do make it through the tunnel and spread their way to Southampton as it needs urgent regime change and cultural initiation.

If you are going then sorry but you will be getting poorly “bantered” by slow thinking yokels in stonewashed jeans all dead made up as they bought a brand new Fiat and drove it off the garage with six miles on the clock. Not only that but they're into property too, as they bought a flat on top of their home and rent it out. A town/city/whatever that genuinely makes you wish the Nazis would have prevailed in Operation Sealion. I can’t get into England as it means sharing the same team as Baz or Daz from Southampton, the fat cringey flutes with the worst Greaty trabs you’ve ever seen."

I think they've just defined the term "No Class".

To go ridiculously over the top like suggests that Everton fans are really worried.
