Wanting to play and being mentally fit to play are two very different things. It's van Gaals job to decide if de Gea is right. He made a call that he's not. The media ask loaded questions to a man who's English isn't brilliant in order to make up a story. The story is then followed up by other media outlets speaking to the long lost source close to de Gea.

So in reality, de Gea has said nothing. Van Gaals said he's not playing until it's sorted and that's that.

When something changes, Manutd.com or the official social media pages for the club will inform you.

So the truth is, nothing has changed from last week

 

In reality Van Gaal said last week he decided he wasn't 100% focussed but this week that De Gea specifically asked not to play, which De Gea has now publicly refuted

De Gea has acted very professionally over this transfer but Van Gaal's continuous #meltdowns are forcing him to now speak publicly and it's all becoming a mess

You aren't getting Ramos and you aren't getting a world record fee. Grow up and get over it

He told The Times' Tony Barrett: "Frans Hoek, he has a meeting with David de Gea and he asks him, 'Do you want to play?'."
When the reporter asked about De Gea's reply, Van Gaal said it was: "No."
The club later moved to clarify those comments, issuing a statement which read: "The manager wants to clarify that the direct answer from David was not 'no', David was not eager to play because of the situation and because he was not 100% focussed due to all the rumours surrounding him."

He cried himself to sleep last night when the van Gaal quoted came out. According to sources close to Astro, he let out a mighty "Leaaaaave Dave alooooneeeeee" cry at the poster of LvG on his bedroom wall. Astro could not be reached for comment.
