Awesome. If we get either Dunk or Byram in connection with shifting this colossal waste of space, it will be the best bit of business this club has ever done. Ever.

There'll be more people crowding round SJP to wave him off than were there to welcome Alan Shearer.

That's great but he is also extolling the virtues of Steven Taylor in the same interview <yikes>

At least he is looking to get rid of Goufran, Vuckic, Willo - they all needed to go.

I can't quite fathom Schteve. Some things I like - the above trio. Other things I worry about like Saylor, preferring Obertan to Aarons. Time will tell.

Don't think he has a choice on Obertan, he's the most game-ready we have - he'd be behind Sissoko as a stand-in right winger, with Aarons/Cabella vying for the left side role, once everyone's fit.

You've gotta like Schteve so far - he had a remote possibility NOT to play Willo vs So'ton and took it. What's not to like? Shunning Gouffran is also a great move - think about it that way, he gave Obertan a role ahead of Gouffran, again what's not to like? Obertan's been poor, but not Gouffran-poor.

I agree. However Aarons is fit so Obertan was a strange one. Come on, Willo was never playing with the captain fit and having spent all the money Chancel. I like more than not like obviously, but Saylor has long since expended his opportunities to stay fit without talking about whether is actually good enough.

I think he will be managing Aarons introduction to the first team and making sure he is ready. The guy oozes ability and potential, but can still be inconsistent. I am hoping that the younger players are going to be better managed under Steve as this was one of Pardew's weakneses for me. I think we'll see him getting plenty of game time this season (same as Perez will) but it will be more carefully managed than it was last season.

Pards did well with the youngsters he had for me. He threw Aarons in very early and got him playing well. The kid was just broken. He didn't hesitate when he had striker problems to get Perez in. He used him well, trusted him and got him doing very well (so well he was many peoples player of the season). After that what did Pards actually have to work with in his time youngster wise? Arma wasn't quite ready but he still got chances. he got the max you could expect out of Dummett. The likes of Sammy, Vuckic, Bigi, Ferguson, Campbell etc were just not good enough

Abeid was reintroduced but couldn't stay fit. Good we never got a chance to see.

Actually I think he did pretty well with our youngsters, the good ones improved. Even some of the mediocre ones did, that's football. I do think McClaren is better coach so he might step up a little in improving them. Pardew was cautious about throwing them in when things were going bad. I think that is the right approach. I think McClaren with his background in Holland and Man U will do likewise. I think he missed a trick though. First day, no judgement, get Aarons in and get him flying. He is our most talented player in the wide areas.

I don't think Pardew was anywhere near as bad as most of us made out. However, he didn't have much choice with Perez or Dummett to be fair. It was more out of necessity than judgement I think. With Armstrong he usually came on when it was either too late to make a difference or we weren't set up properly to best utilise him and get the most out of his development. I agree that it was better to not introduce players during a bad spell, but how many times did we see Gouffran come on when we weren't in a bad spell and so miss the opportunity to introduce them safely. He also used to move players out of position to cover injuries and suspensions rather than trusting kids to fill in in their specialised position. If the kids weren't good enough to do that then that is a weakness in youth development - for which there should be collective blame on the whole coaching set up.

Look...I don't want him being a regular starter for us but they better have someone lined up to replace him. Not sure Lewis Dunk sounds like he is the answer either.

    I'm sorry, I don't believe it.

It simply can't be true because Rolando has been telling us for the past 8 weeks that Iron Mike would be in our first eleven on the opening day of the season.

Dunk would be a good signing if you want someone that is going to pass the ball around at the back.

Now ow and then can get in trouble for being a bit too casual on the ball but a good defender. Likely to cost in excess of £5m as Brighton won't want to and don't need to sell.

    But he was, wasn't he?

I know he didn't play under his usual name, Iron Mike, but he must have played somewhere. Rolly said he would.
