Good Morning Everyone, I've good a good Leeds Utd analogy for you. Leeds Utd is like a Labrador puppy. Fun, excitable, faithful and loyal. And then it will take a sh**e on the carpet..... A week is a long time in football. Four days ago we were talking about Leeds as promotion candidates, after we should have seen out the last few minutes of the Burnley game, having taken a late lead. Last night, again having taken the lead, we should have kept our momentum, and gone for a second goal whilst Donny were still on the back foot. Instead :- i) Leeds let them back in the match. ii) Wooton sticks out a leg when the Donny player was NOT even in a goal scoring position. iii) Cook recieves a straight red. Are these things forgivable? In my opinion they would be, if they didn't happen week after week! Why don't these things happen to other clubs? Donny's keeper was not particularly good, he almost let the ball in his own net after Antenucci fired a shot at him from the edge of the box from an acute angle. Still, they won the penalty shootout. Why? Because Byram and Wood could not hit the target from 12 yards. Is this acceptable from a professional footballer?
Morning Elland and all. Due to work commitments I missed first half so difficult to assess what I saw as we had ten men for the lot. As for missing penalties that's also been going on for decades with your national team you know. Byram didn't look at all confident standing up to his and wood looked like a centre half effort. Not panicking at all as I've said previously cups are a waste of time for us. The hopeless crowd at the keepmoat shows how little interest there is in the thing. A result on Sunday and normal service will be resumed. I presume meldrew will be giving it loads till then
Morning all ... our only real issue now is inexperience ... I've said before that Mowatt and Cook together cannot be responsible for driving us on from midfield ... Murphy is going to be a key player for us, and with Cook missing the next three games it will be intersting to see how Rosler plays it ... we missed Byram down the right, Doukara was shocking and looked asleep and uninterested ... Wootton did okay for most parts plugging the hole and Donny struggled to get at our keeper for most of the game ... only when legs went towards the end did Donny start getting a few shots off ... I still don't feel we're rubbish, but it's clear players like Duke and Antenucci are moody fcukers, and boy they can be very off ... at least Wood can hold the ball up and get our midfield on the front foot ... still, as Eire says, a good result on Sunday and we're rolling again ... I fcuking hate losing to Donny, and it's the first time in our history we've been knocked out in the First Round of the League Cup ... let's hope the dog has learnt not to **** on the carpet anymore Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Where the feck is this WE coming from..... Deluded idiots were suggesting we would be there ot there abouts. Those know knew otherwise....
These kids are nowhere near as good as you think they are. They will be journeymen with maybe two exceptions, and they will be lower prem standard if they turn their potential into ability.... Redfearn fooled a lot of people when running the acadamy. Cellino seeing it as average and expensive is about the only thing he has got right.
Good morning to Matt from a wet Bardsey I knew it wouldn't belong before the anti Christ appeared Lets not get carried away Derby lost and many more teams in our division lost so what .We lost because Cook got over exhuberant and Wootton was plainly out of his depth in midfield but as a so called centre back he should have more nouse than to pile in like that What did we learn Wood is still not fit and can't take penalties I still think once he settles he will be alright The team are in most parts very fit and so to Reading
Morning all 3 days rest then the long journey down to Reading. 120 mins doesnt bode well! Murphy to come in for Cook and hopefully Erwin has shown enough in training to get the nod ahead of Dukes.
two things disappointed me in the match one was the idiotic challenge by Wootton to concede the penalty and the goalkeeper having dived the right way turned into Bonny Langford.
Yea people being very negative. Its a bit early. 2 individual mistakes cost us that game and that was IT. Firstly by a player who I hope has probably got his last opportunity with the team (or at the very least last opportunity in midfield) and the second by an 18 year old (which I still see as a harsh decision personally). It was an experimental side in a ****ty capital one cup game, its disappointing but don't be slitting your own throats coz of it. We move on. As I said in my other post, I think Rosler would've learned a lot from that game.
Doukara getting unnecessary stick, whereas Dallas gets no criticism despite being anonymous. Despite all the negativity I think this Leeds squad is our best for years. Plus they couldn't be faulted for effort last night - very unlucky imo
Not panicking yet but one major concern was that before a ball was kicked against Burnley we were banking a successful season on the goal scoring ability of Wood and sadly he isn't any better than Antenucci. He looks laboured, over weight, can't head a ball and I will bet money on him not hitting 20 goals this season. Bellusci got a hard time on Saturday from some fans, if he hadn't played against Doncaster it could have been worse. Rosler still has me firmly on side however that will quickly vanish if I see Wootton or Doukara in the starting lineup again. Wootton ahead of Sloth and Erwin not given a chance were both strange decisions. Yes Doukara was playing right instead of left and Wootton DM when he is a CB or make shift RB but again it is another coach trying to be clever with square pegs and round holes. Dallas needs to improve sharpish as well, he did well for 45 minutes on Saturday but he was like a ghost yesterday against poor opposition. The time has arrived where we see how good a coach Rosler is, will he learn from mistakes and clamp down on poor discipline or will we still be looking for our first win in two games time.
Wood needs to be shown some love because if he gets the finger and abuse, he will turn into another of our players who couldn't play in front of our fans. Rosler isn't turning out to be genius coach yet, so again we will have to wait and see. I've said it countless times on here about our kids. Some will make it but most won't and TA isn't full of talent like it was because the talent gets poached and goes to Man City. So the appointment of the new head of academy is key. Cook and Mowatt may make it but only at lower prem level I'm afraid. Hope I'm wrong, but I think Delph may be the last of our kids to do it
Firstly, I've never said our kids are GREAT, but they definitely won't become journeyman lower division players either ... Byram and Taylor both have ability, and will play in the Prem at some point ... Mowatt and Cook are both very young and still learning, which is why I said they shouldn't be given the joint responsibility for making our midfield tick ... I would stick Adeyemi in the DM role with Murphy as our lynchpin and rotate Mowatt/Cook in the other midfield role ... that way the two nippers learn more and don't burn out by February ... our team looked tired towards the end of last season because our kids were flagging, and Redders did nothing to help them We have some excellent youngsters who are still to make the breakthrough, so not all bad ... Rosler is a sharp guy, and he has one of the smallest squads in this division, so last night would have shown him a lot ... it doesn't help when a monster like Doukara is bundled off the ball too easily and Antenucci can't hold the ball up ... Wood will be fine after some more game time, but we do need to add to the squad Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Unfortunately, you have had your expectations lowered so much that you really thought your summer business was good. It wasn't
Ten games is a proper period to start having a go if things are not looking up. After two games is downright foolish at best, bordering on stupid, given one of the games is little more than a friendly
Billy, I said the same about Mowatt/Cook last night to Leeds60 when we were watching the match. I had noticed last season that they both tired about the same time in a match, & left us vulnerable. I'd be tempted to play Murphy & Adeyemi too, but wonder if the fact that Murphy played 60 minutes more than was planned for his recovery might affect that decision. Perhaps he'll come on as sub again & start the following game. If he doesn't start, I wonder if we'll go with Phillips/Adyemi. Hopefully Wootton will be rested *cough*. Anyone notice that Bellusci is far more responsible when he leads the back line? Don't know if last night was a one-off, but he deffo had his sensible head on, which he doesn't often do when he plays alongside Bamba. I have also yet to be convinced that Wood can play in a 4-3-3. Could be that he's heavy & unfit, but on current showing, he's made for 4-4-2. Doesn't seem to have the engine for our current set-up. Reminds me of when Smith started playing for us. Then he lost some weight & got fitter & turned out to be one of our best signings for a long time (still have no idea why we sold him - would have him back in a heartbeat).
