It'd certainly help towards Hodgson using him as a midfield enforcer!

Reports this morning that the break is healing faster than expected and he could be back within weeks rather than months <ok>

Said just now that he's in the second week of the month he'd be out for. That's good news and should mean he's on schedule for his return in January!

Then he can have a quick month coming up to match fitness, two good games before getting a slight knock and being out for an indeterminate time between 2 weeks and 1 year!

Good news for us and even better for him. It was paramount that he get a whole season under his belt and be the player that is expected of him. <ok>

I figure it just means that he'll be back earlier ready for his next injury!

Let's all hope he doesn't, for his sake at least. This is really hampering his development and the last thing Wilshere needs is to known as the new "sick note" like Diaby or Anderton.

I agree, he's such a good player and got such potential I really don't want to see him become another of the above players! Just one full pre-season and injury free season isn't too much to ask is it?

Though at the same time, I find it hard to believe, given our record on injuries, that an injury prone player can recover from a hairline fracture so quickly and not suffer a relapse when he starts playing!

It shouldn't be too much to ask for as he will be rotated with players like Cazorla, Ramsey and Ozil. Maybe we need to modify his training regime? Or alter the way he plays to reduce his injuries/longevity? Not every player is the same and maybe he needs a totally different regime to others?

But I do agree, it would be a shame should he not fulfill his potential...

Either it was a misdiagnosis or he was given something special....

If he can stay fit, and it's a big if. Then I honestly think wilshere can become one of the best midfielders in the premier league, in the same mould as Lampard and Gerrard.

This really is a crucial time for him now, because at 23 he will need to develop to his full potential over the next couple of seasons if he's going to reach these heights.

That's a good point - maybe that's why RVP had such a dramatic fall from grace! Horse placenta stole his very essence, after just 2 years at the top!

The trouble is, I don't see how he gets into your team. I know it is a long season and you have your share of injuries, but where does he play? Next to Ramsay/Cazorla (teams will cut through too easy), instead of Ramsay/Cazorla in front of defence - can't see it, he's no winger (although that doesn't seem to stop Wenger) or will he keep Ozil/Cazorla out of the No10 role? So he's League/FA Cup Cup fodder

I can see him playing league sub/cup games. For me he is a straight swap for either Cazorla or Ramsey in the center, but i can easily see Wenger playing him on the wings to accommodate him. Problem is, Wenger tends to do this, which necessarily isn't the best thing. Its almost like he's being over accommodating to our midfielders, like sticking Ramsey or Ozil on the wings, whereas OXO and Walcott would be clearly better choices.

He can play the Ramsey / cazorla role best. Agree about the flanks, that's not his best position but I think Wenger has already hinted that he might use him there. For me, when both fit and on form, wilshere is slightly ahead of Ramsey.
