Sorry Col! I have him on ignore, which means, on this new version of the site, you really don't see anything at all, even stuff that is 'replied to'. Have to say don't think I'm missing anything.
Membership card just arrived, a day after the tat. Aiming for the Forest home game for my debut this season. Actually got a lot of away games within relatively easy distance - Birmingham, Wolves, Forest, Derby, MK Dons and a visit to the fair city of Sheffield has to be on.
Yes probably, not sure as yet. But what has that got to do with your double standards.....did it show you up! ps thought you'd have pressed the button on me by now, same as that sb73/Graham fella has done.
That's the biggest disappointment for me in all of this. We desperately need to get out of LR and into something new and comfortable, wherever it may be. Forget the Old Oak thing, just find another site as near as possible and build a 25,000 seater with scope for expansion if needed.
I think this is where we have all got swept along on the wave of unreasonable hype. What do we want.... We want to be a decent premiership team We want state of the art training facilities We want exciting youngsters coming through We want a new stadium We want to not be in debt, with massive fines over our head ..............................................when do we want it........NOW. No..................we cannot jiust find another site...they do not exist ten a penny, planning permission takes time, building takes time.... No ................we dont want to do this quickly We really do need to think about this, and make sure the next move (in every aspect) is thje right move, will not throw us into a spiralling level of debt. Hoos is right, we really do need to make sure every step is within our limits, and we need to do it in the right order all linked together. It has to be right on the pitch, amnd the training facilities will help that. If it is not right on the pitch, our 18,000 supporters will drift away, and there will be no point in having a 25,000 or 30, 000 stadium. Sorry Stroller, now is the time for realism
The ground hasn't been fit for purpose for 20 years, Beth. Various regimes have had plenty of time to do something about it.
That may be true Stroller....but at thais moment in time ..we have to cut our cloth. Sort our house out once and for all....a sustainable future
Just disappointed me that someone felt it was a 'strength'. Just because it holds great memories doesn't make it less of a dump. Hoos (and Beth) may well be right, one step at a time etc, but that doesn't mask the fact that we have been led by the nose for 4 years now by a bloke who has basically lied, probably through naivity, about both training facilities and stadium. And here we are begging people to write to Ealing Council and no longer talking about Old Oak (which I suspect will be a bullet dodged if/when we don't get planning permission). It has taken us this long to get to the stage of still trying to get permission to develop a piece of wasteland at Warren Farm. Look how long it has taken Spurs toget to where they are with the WHL rebuild. If we ever want a new stadium (agree a good 25,000 seater is all we need, plus lobbying for safe standing) we need to plan now. If we wait until we actually need it it will never happen, as we will be back down again. To fail to plan now just implies lack of confidence that the 'sustainability' strategy will work.
I've always been a big supporter of Tony, but I have to say that it would appear that he has been completely useless!!
Yep, it's the sense of disappointment that hurts most, I thought he was pure good news for the first couple of years. A few on here -Imaz, Danish, DT - had his measure from day one. My problem is I think Mittal/Bhatia are worse, so no salvation there.
I honestly don't think that the stadium and perhaps also the training ground are going to happen under the current ownership, and I'm not trying to be negative or damning about TF and co. He would like to do those things and to have all sorts of exciting announcements to make, but only by waving a magic wand at them and throwing a bit of glitter here and there. The real work is far too tedious and takes far too long to deliver results. My worthless take on it.
Very on-message Beth I am perfectly prepared to be patient regarding the playing side, but would at least like to know that planning for a new ground is continuing, Old Oak or no Old Oak. It would be nice watch QPR in comfort before I pop my clogs.
I have never been very excited by a the Old Oak plans, they have always seemed over ambitious and look to take years to do, if at all. I would really prefer a re-development of Loftus Road, which I think can be built at least upwards, sufficiently to raise gates to 25K - 30K, with some imagination, good planning and perhaps a season of rebuilding where we'd need to ground share. I think the atmosphere at LR is an asset and would like to keep it.
This lack of forsight is not "new" news. I heard at the meeting from one of the other "delegates", not from the club. That many years ago (was it during Richard Thompsons time?) the club was offered the chance to buy the school outright....obviously increasing the "footprint" of the club.....and they declined. Hence giving away some chance of expanding on the existing site. Yes I am toe-ing the company line Stroller, because it does seem to be fairly logical.... and if we can get 2 of the three things through soonish (a decent team, and the first stone laid at Warren Farm) , I will be a very VERY happy bunny
