I can see the outcome of all this - Maynard will sign a new contract with Bristol City, but will have a buy-out clause if a Prem club comes in for him. With due respect to Leicester, the season has not started yet, so it's not guaranteed that they will go up (Birmingham, West Ham, Ipswich etc all very strong too) He may be better off staying at Ashton Gate where the side is set up to play to his strengths, and in a system where we know he will score lots of goals - going to Leicester in a way would be a gamble for him
I can,t believe some of the **** written on the subject of Nicky Manard. Not just by the Leicester fans either. Just because you have bid £xmillion pounds (4th bid not even confirmed) why has he got to sign for your team? Total up your own ass arrogance. All this "make a decsion, sign this and sign that" bollox. We have clearly stated he is not for sale to CC club, and anyway your only claims to fame are a high fat snack food aimed at kids and a jug-eared goal-hanger. The facts are BCFC and Nicky Manard are both in a good position. He likes and the club, the fans the area. He has the best contract BCFC have ever offered on the table. BCFC now have a £5 million benchmark if a prem club comes calling, thanks sven. Our ex-chairman and major shareholder is worth a cool £700,000,000 and knows if Nick stays, hits 20+ goals and City play better defensively this season, then a crack at the prem league is very possible and thats worth £50 million, so why sell? Go away and try and bully another club with your tainted foreign millions. COYR.
1) How do you see it that way? Maynard maybe, but BCFC stand to completely lose that £5M by the end of the season. 2) Totally naive in this day of professional footballers. 3) So what - that could equate to peanuts these days. That surely doesn't compete with what he could earn elsewhere. 4) A player is worth what someone will pay for him. Leicester's bid is no benchmark - it's just their opinion. Where are the Prem clubs? If you're bargaining on promotion to justify him staying, you're playing a very longshot game. Let him go and move on before you lose the cash and he walks next May.
Like I need a lesson in football matters by a supporter of a team that has failed a number of times to buy its way to into the prem. Anyway my points are, and are still valid at this moment in time, Nicky Manard as I would expect any player of his age and quality wants to play in the prem. Liecester fans may support a rich club but as CC club cannot demand we sell him to them and finally if you refer to the part of my comment you didn't paste in, i.e Mr Lansdown major shareholder, is we don't need the money. There you have it my little welsh friend but why you are making comments on a BCFC forum? lack of intrest in your own club? maybe a touch of envy as the mercenary players your lot signed have pi**ed off.
Ok sparkey, Ill bite, what do you realistically think we would offer per week in wages and how would that compare to Leicester? What also amuses me is how all these fans talk about this money like its theirs, if SL is happy to spunk it on a last season gamble thats up to him, its makes no difference to me.
you lot all keep going on about prem clubs, no prem clubs have even had a sniff at him. your owners will soon realize that and accept of 5.3 million (+ add ons) bid. and this time next year he will be looking forward to a season in the prem and would be 1st choice straight the way. And having read your posts saying ' we may have a shot at the prem league' and 'if he bags 20 goals we have a chance. jog on, if your owners so rich why dont he pull his finger out and buy someone one. oh no silly me, its only little old bristol rovers. oh no city, i always get them mixed up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sparkey, have you been on the Primrose Oil or Rosewater again....? You give us these wise these wise words of wisdom but what ever happened to Jay Bothroyd, who is joining QPR on a free from Cardiff....
Personally at £5 million+ I would sell as don't think he is worth anything near that, not when you look at how much we paid for Chopra. I can see Brizzle fans point of view and not liking what they might call 'bully boy tactics' and TBH there are plenty of you Leicester fans who are being soooo bloody arrogant and thinking that you are going to walk the league this season. This is leading to many fans hoping to see you fall flat on your faces, so don't be surprised by all the flack coming your way, you are lining yourselves up for a massive fall and I for one would love to see it, especially after reading some comments by LCFC fans of late!!!
Another up your own ass arrogant filbert fool, pay attention we have an owner not owners unlike your foreign consortium of faceless deluded gloryhunters.
Guys, this was posted on our board by a Leicester fan (Paul Gallaghino) 'its brilliant being the talk of the town, youre all just jealous. It doesnt matter to our owners how much we pay, it is just about the quality, they are worth 400 million. Matt Mills is the best CB in the league,or at worst one of the best. Our other signings cost a modest amount. Dont be surprised if we get Naughton back too, and win the cat and mouse game for maynard. Its going to be a lot of fun smashing this league' This is the arrogance being shown by them at the moment, damn annoying i say!!
Summer of 76 - Ah, I remember it well. Stinking hot doing part my apprenticeship on a development site. Not trying to tell you about your club mate, just football matters in general. This site is about opinions - those are just mine. BTW, I'll post where I like - if you don't like it, tough. Banksy - not sure about realistic wages. I suppose it depends on the club. It may not just be about that mind. Wizey - the case of Bothroyd (and Ledley before him) exactly proves my point. We lost out big time.
WalshNo5 Yeah, but admit it, you are a tincy bit jealous !! Not at all as we are still after at least 3 more players and i would rather Chopra than Maynard. TBH Danns was a very good signing but the rest....... Not really worried about other signings, especially Mills at £5mil !!!!
well mate, i was gonna write something witty back but i aint. not trying to be a t**t. just wanted to give my opinion
Well I do agree that these forums are for opinions and football by it very nature (not predictable), makes for interesting debate. However, this thread is on a BCFC forum, and as the title states is about leicester city's intrest in Nicky Maynard . As i have repeatedly pointed out, just having financial muscule does not give any club a devine right to sign who they like. As for Oldfarty, i'm just posting my opinion on the forum i signed up to, not general chat, not the champions league, just BCFC. I love a bit of banter hence Oldfarty, and it quite funny that you did your appreniship on a development site in 76, because wales was shut down by the end of 79. My opinion about the situation is, if he stays for another year and leaves for free, there is a possibility (deluded to some people who don't understand passion for your club) that he could fire us to perm, playoffs, cup run and cover some of our predicted loss of £2.25m or not. That is worse case, but if he chooses another option the positives are all BCFC's and that includes a transfer to LCFC, which in my opinion would be a sideways step at best, to a club which has bought in some talented players but are still and unknown quantity. I am signed up to the Mr Lansdowns way which should be applauded, to to try and build a club, with a stable environment (not always posible when you factor in human frailties), a good development programme with quality facilities, a stadium that can generate the required financies and hopefully a sustainable club and future. COYR.
i agree but like you saying ' a side ways step at best ' is bit harsh. but if we said Coming to us wold be a massive step up all of your fans would be on here saying no it aint and all of this bull. and as for it being you forum, we have had loads of BCFC fans coming on to your forum and there is no rule that other fans cant go onto other teams forums.
Summer of 76 - I like a bit of banter on the forum as others on here will attest, but I also like to talk about the game in general. Seems you can't handle posters with a different opinion to you. It doesn't matter what club forum the discussion is on - the principles are relevent and the same. No need for the name calling '76 - all a bit juvenile to be honest. Also Wales wasn't shut down in '79, it was two years later. Have a good time this season.
Sparkey - I take it you just washed your wellies off old chap, sheep S*****g could be an olympic event be 3012.
Thanks for restoreing my faith in banter Old sparkey, I'm just still lost in my euphoria of being 10years old at Highbury opening day of 76 beatin the gunners, wurzells in the charts et al. I will try not to name call but no promises. Sorry forgot COYR & good luck Oldsparkey for the season ahead.
