I don't rate him but I don't think there is even a discussion to be had on defending - Dummett wipes the floor with him. Haidara actually did give an improved showing in passing - normally he gives it away for fun. Strength wise I'd probably disagree. Plus there is still the old unable to control a football routine which Haidara went through again on Sunday. His pace is useful and certainly better going forward. If we had someone better than Colo alongside Mbemba then fair enough. I just think we need all the defensive help we can get at the moment. We'll be more solid with Dummett.

Perhaps the more obvious solution is Anita or Colback given our abundance of flexibility/options in midfield.

People got a hard on when dummet scored against Liverpool but the kids championship at best hes worse than john carvers underpants.

 

I thought Haidara was poor defending on Sunday and both goals came from crosses from his side. His other failing was his inability to get the ball under control quickly and release the winger. By the time he was able to pass Obertan was closed down. If you are going to play a speedy winger then you have to have a full back who can release him quickly. Dummett only defends better because he tends to play deeper but my main concern is his distribution is even poorer than Haidara's! We.have to go out and buy a new left back.

Dummett isn't good enough, not in any way. I'm not even sure he is good enough as a 4th or 5th choice centre back. Left back is our main priority. He is championship. Haidara is league 1 though. He is just garbage. You can't just let wingers cross the ball. All this "but his passing, he's fast, he gets forward" is utter bollocks. It may have some legs if you have 2 quality centre backs. Regardless the primary role of a full back is defending and he hasn't the foggiest. The better the centre backs, the more the balance swings towards attacking instincts. With Colo and his comical aerial ability, having a full back who just says "go on, put that ball where you like" is suicide at this level.

All in all, the bottom line is we are desperate for a left back. We are also desperate for a centre half with aerial ability, strength and leadership qualities. Colo is a pussy. He has loads of talent but he hasn't got the cojones.

 

Id honestly rather play Williams left back ahead of dummet hes that ****. If it wasn't for pardew and carver we would still hsve Santon of course who wasnt perfect but on another level in comparison with haidara and dummet.

 

Dummett is **** at defending hes to one footed and if you gave him an apple he would think it was a banana.

 

I don't think is particularly good at defending, he is simply far better than Haidara who is the defending equivalent of Fumaca

 

I was almost about to say they are both equally worthless but im right haidara is better in all areas apart from straight long balls.
