If it was 10 games then maybes it was slightly over a month. I can't be bothered googling it but all I remember is his run lasting about a month and the being pished off when he went back to looking uninterested after the England squad was announced. 10 quality games in 3 years is still shocking though.
Just had a look mate, it was 7 goals at my count, over 9 games, finishing on the 1st February. You had 9 games, 2 League Cup, 2 FA Cup and 5 league games (including 1st February) and he scored 7 including a hat-trick against Fulham.
Cheers for stats Tez, not a bad run but Fulham were dogshit at the time... I do remember that game though
I have time to kill today mate, waiting for a group of Poles to tip up for a meeting but they're running late from London. Any other requests, just let me know!
And we weren't? I know he was streets ahead of any other winger stats wise from beginning of December to mid february when the England squad was announced (that includes the likes of Silva etc for chances created and stuff) - remember doing a comparison stat for others and he was by far, from early december, the best there was in the league over that period - and I still think that Hodgson not picking him for England caused a major downturn - how would any of us feel if we were performing above all of our colleagues and they got promoted ahead of us? I'd be well pissed off personally! Most would and AJ was as well. Turned him from world beater to 1 "moment" in 10 games! @Teessidemakem I am in agreement with you mate about Johnson (except when it comes to Townsend mind!) - but the problem with having a Watmore style direct winger is you need the player(s) in the box when the winger gets past his man - Defoe isn't doing it like he used to and the passes need to be accurate (like Johnson) and not just "in the right area" as he isn;t getting into those areas from what I saw on Saturday!
I admire your defence of our players mate which I've done myself in the past.. I'm not saying Johnson is ****.. He is the epitome of a 'True Athlete who never unleashes his Potential' why did he go on that run last season and fall into mediocre? I wanna know what ticks his brain? All the off field issues which are yet to be before the courts must be a distraction.. Not only that, the fact Adam Johnson has a court case going on at the moment sums him up best... My previous post, 'Consistency' he's been all over the place since he signed for us..
Agree totally aussie - He's looked good in flashes and looked poor more often - still shown "that" ability even when he's played crap - srill pulled out at least one expertly played pass every game - often it comes to nothing but his vision is second to none - just his application that is an issue! TBF - since I watched Stan Cummins, wingers have always been inconsistent - Johnson takes it to the extreme though and, - since his arrest, has played 1 good 10 minute spell in every 5 games - I just can;t see anywhere else that a killer pass will come from. If you attack with pace and get men in the box then a killer pass isn;t as pivotal - but if you play like we did at the weekend then we need it It will probably be a good thing for him not to be involved for a couple of months - away from the "*****" chants and constant reminders of his off field stuff - just hope we can put someone in his place that is capable. "Call for Giaccherini, come in number 23"
Great post mate, reading that sums up our current plight at the moment which is a pretty bog standard squad.. Although like we've said the little Italian who I believe in will step in and do a job for our faithful
The trick is being able to apologise when you're being a dick or admit defeat when you're wrong, goes a long way on forums. Too many people are too proud to be proved wrong in public. You lot are always pissed as well, which helps when I say something daft you're always too hammered to remember
That's what keeps it the best board of the lot! I'm always having a drink when posting mate.. One thing I won't do is personal insults, make a dick of myself yes lol but in general this is a cracking place
Everyone is different mate, people get heated and resort to slanging matches, it's all good fun. People cross the line, but they never usually last long, when the Sunderland wolf pack attacks.
