Charlton's Francis fails to agree terms at Bournemouth. Francis joined the Addicks from Southend last summer Charlton right-back Simon Francis's move to Bournemouth is off after he failed to agree personal terms. The Addicks' League One rivals began talks with Francis after Charlton accepted a bid just over a week ago. The 26-year-old moved to Charlton from Southend last summer and made 43 appearances, but has not joined the Addicks on their Spanish training camp. Just read this on the BBC. Apologies if its already been discussed, but I would quite like Francis to stay.
"We've done everything possible to make the deal happen". Love it. IMO, he should have accepted - I can't see any way into the team for him this season, except through other player's injuries - unless, of course he's aiming for Championship football.
Not the end of the world- I think there's a place for Francis in our squad this season. As I've said I'm quite happy with Solly at RB and Francis is a decent stand-in. His crossing is better than Waggy's so he might be able to stand in for Green when needs arise.
Problem is we now won't sign another rightback unless he goes. Rumour was we were deffo in frame for another defender but doubt that will happen until we unload Francis, but dunno who is going to pay him a similar amount of wages to us
Have you banged your head on something Tewkes... ... As long as I've got a hole in my arse he will not play in the championship...!!
We need a better class of RB as Solly is not it Need to bring someone in as otherwise this position will be our weak link Left wingers will have a field day
Silly is more than capable of being first choice rb, my concern with him though is whether he can stay fit for the season?
I can't really see what the weaknesses are in Solly's game. I don't think I've seen him play a poor game for us.
He is "ok" but compared to the other signings quality he is inferior No point having a team consisting of 10 great players then one average guy Solly is a good reserve RB but nothing more ..... I hope he grows into something (not literally of course and that would be highly unlikely)
Think consistency is still an issue, but he appears to have the mentality to sort that out. Think he will grow in to a fine RB. Actually rate him more than jenks.
if we do start with Solly ... and he proves me wrong I'll be the first person to say I was wrong seconds before a few of you buggers !!!!
Can't wait for the hat eating animation! or should that be dungaree eating? Seriously, this is the season that Solly has to prove that he is up to the mark. I don't thinkl he had opportunity to do much in last season's squad but with the way things are gellign I think we may all be surprised (for the better).
Totally agree with you DVD, I struggle to see any strengths in his game. For me he's slow, weak, short, bad going forwards, can't cross, can't really pass. He's an ok tackler and wins more than his percentage of headers for a short guy, but he's nothing more than average L1 quality. I guess I'm in the minority on this one.
My problem with Solly is that he's just Baby Doc. I can scarcely tell the difference between them. Both thinning, both with a strange stiff-legged running style, both slow to turn. Solly is shorter but the Doc can't jump so it's about even.
