looks alright , though im hard pressed to see how it meets the brief (the bits not concerned with it simply being a bridge)

Also , is that a person naked walking along Castle St ? cant make it out :/

All the Phase 2 stuff in that application could spoil the clean look of the thing, though it probably won't matter, they're unlikely to get further than Phase 1 anyway.

16 months to build a bridge, which is mostly constructed in shed and delivered to site is a bit much... Subject to foundations the structure shouldnt take too long. Although we all know what happened with the new swing bridge in the old town :emoticon-0145-shake

New Castle Street footbridge in Hull 'delayed until 2018'

WORK on a new £11.5m footbridge over Hull's busiest road will not start until 2018, the Mail can exclusively reveal today.

The delay on the Castle Street crossing is a massive blow for those hoping to see it ready for the 2017 UK City of Culture programme.

Construction on the striking new bridge had been scheduled to get underway later this year.

That would have seen it completed within the first few months of Hull's year in the national spotlight as the UK City of Culture.

But the Mail understands that timescale has proved too tight for Highways England, the government-owned company which is responsible for the A63 route through Hull.

The re-think was prompted amid concerns that construction work could extend well into 2017.

It's believed Highways England will officially confirm the delay within the next few days.

Instead, a revised timetable will see work starting on the footbridge between Hull Marina and Princes Quay in 2018.

That would avoid any related disruption to the 2017 programme, which is expected to include several large-scale public events in the Fruit Market and Hull Marina areas.

The delay marks a disappointing setback for city leaders who have lobbied for the new bridge as an interim project ahead of long-term plans to upgrade the Mytongate junction on the A63.

They had hoped it would be ready for 2017 to showcase as a flagship development project.

City councillors gave planning permission for the footbridge last October.

However, the council has no responsibility for the A63.

The cost of the bridge is due to be met by a government grant and funding from the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.

The drilling results must have thrown up a few potential foundation problems maybe ?

It looks like it's just down to government funding being temporarily withdrawn and the Highways Agency putting everything on hold.
