If the keeper has to make a save if because the rest of the team haven't done what they're meant to <laugh>...
Guess that's why it called a, "SAVE". They have saved the team, not the ball.

Very true, however Jak's party piece is to save it then pat it to an opposition player to put in the back of the net.

It's a good point; you have to question why the goalkeeper was called into action in the first place.

I think what'll wind the fans up the most is that he'd already technically saved it and sort of dropped/threw it at their player. But mistake aside it was piss poor defending from a set piece AGAIN, which we saw in pre season a fair bit. It's something we're going to have to work on because at this level, especially the weaker teams, set pieces are the best chance other teams have to score against us.

The obvious difference is that Petr Cech isn't an accident waiting to happen in each game that he plays.

Agreed, sadly it's been an issue for years.

It's that incident where he pretended to be hurt after a massive ****-up that turned fans against him, PLT made reference to it the other day. I wasn't there so cant remember it properly

The goals were well taken by Luer & Akpom. So not all bad.

Do you honestly think he "pretended" to be hurt? They thought he damaged his eye socket, they took him to hospital after the game, SB said it in his post match interview. After that game Stockdale came in. It turned out to just be bruising and mild concussion (I think that's what I remember), which is why Stockdale was brought in because Jak wasn't fit enough to play. Stockdale being the better keeper, he kept Jak out the side. If SB had found out that Jak had faked it all, he'd probably have been sacked by the club. Common sense lad, use it.

What you say is correct but if you are referring to McGregor then the point isn't valid.

Last season he was a shower of **** and single handily cost us a lot of points. He is found wanting on so many occasions and the truth is he just isn't good enough. Then there was the dubious goal he let in during pre season and it looks like he has still got it in him to make consistent gaffs.

We are clearly looking for a keeper and Harpers exit isn't the primary reason. The primary reason is he is unreliable and offers no confidence to the team or the defence.

How was Windass Jr. for Accrington? Any good? He seemed to have a lot of time on the ball and he seemed at the centre of a lot of the good stuff that Accrington did.

He sounded a little hit and miss, although I heard more about wether or not the ringing was a car alarm or an ice cream truck.

McGregor is just as bad as Jakupovic, if not worse, when it comes to silly mistakes. I'm quite surprised we haven't brought a new first choice keeper in yet.

Hopefully we will before the window closes, either that or we'll be depending in loans as the season progresses.

I don't have the greatest of confidence in either of our keepers. I know it's sport, I know they are prone to errors, it's just ours seem to make more than most. The Jak did redeem himself with 2 penalty saves. McGregor on the other hand made so many errors last season it is hard to have any confidence in him. He was beaten from outside the box more than any other keeper in the PL and glaring errors like throwing the ball into the net for Chelsea's 3rd goal at the KC.

The Jak didn't redeem himself, if he wasn't a piece of **** he wouldn't have had two penalties to save in the first place.

If he hadn't have saved either of them, we wouldn't be in the next round. Redemption.

I don't think you understand what the word 'redeem' means.

Young Windass was good, needs to get his shots on target more, but some clever touches. Also needs to beef up a bit to get to his dad's level.
Just got back after some clown closed the M66 and failed to put up any diversion signs as you left it. Followed a taxi and then the signs appeared, but changed part way to Bury.

Cracking night that. I'd much rather visit 23 grounds like that a season than the ones in the PL.

The game was pedestrian like & we never got going, we managed to drag them down to our level.

Game was average at best but the atmosphere was a laugh & boisterous. We had to play for a couple of hours but we won the match. Someone offered me a spare ticket outside for a tenner but I missed the chippy. It's all swings & roundabouts.

    I'm Hank Marvin.
