Can't see it happening IMO simply because Rodgers does not fancy Sakho at all. He will continue to persist with Lovren and Skrtel - I think it would be harsh to drop Lovren after Sunday. I don't wouldn't want Lovren and Sakho together - Lovren is a LCB. He played RCB in a couple of games I think and he was awful. Skrtel is still the better defender of the two. Personally, I want Rodgers to show some balls and try Gomez or Ilori at RCB, at least in the cup games.
good call imo. We've 2/3 players we are on about here. can, firmino and sahko... the players ibe, lallan and lovern have the shirts. they need to up it to keep them... I cannot see two of those keeping those shirts but the arsenal game... why? we cannot go to arsneal carrying two players... (sorry ibe but as a real winger we can't have you at the emirates) Firmino is clearly better than lallana form only two brief views of him but he's still getting ton the club and building fitness. Can looks a bit unfit to me... Again I'd have him in but he'd got to get fit.
I think he is unfit but he didn't look too shabby against Stoke (only played 30 mins). There was one moment where he sprinted quickly and won the ball back just outside the box. Made 1 or 2 good forward runs as well. Simply for balance, we need him in the midfield.
no i think he looks like a late stage john barnes myself. my advice is don't bulk but get working kid.
I think its something that might or might not work.. one of them has to significantly alter their game to make it work.
I see it like this: Lovren is a confidence player, if Rodgers throws in with Lovren, he'll feel trusted, more confident and a better player. Sakho has shown he is less affected by this stuff, - he came back after his sulk last season and played well. With no confidence shown in him, Lovren would just be dead weight in the squad - not what we want. Look on the bright side - if he c***s it up, we've got a good defender to step in.
Got to admit, Lovren has proved me wrong so far. He looks much more assured this season, I do think a lot of credit goes to Gomez for that too, you can see he's there to defend first and foremost, which has helped Lovren out two fold. As a unit we look much better, our midfield isn't now being sliced open with two passes, it's takes a bit of quality to get through us. My only worry is that, like last night we end up dropping a bit too deep, Lovren plays on the front foot to try and win the ball and gaps appear, especially against a team of Arsenals quality. BUT, there's not too much he's done wrong these first three games and looks more like the player we hoped we signed. Hope the lad keeps it up
I agree - Lovren hasn't f*cked up as much this season. Still made big errors and he's lucky we haven't been punished. Still think Sakho should be starting.
Good opportunity to give Sakho a chance Skrtel +Sakho or Lovern+ Sakho???. Against United think twice.
