He caused the arsenal defence to go into a panic everytime he got on the ball. But, and maybe this is a tad harsh, but at 2-0 there were 2 separate incidents where passes were there for him to play in someone for a clear chance on goal. He got greedy with the first and messed up the pass on the second. Like I said a bit harsh maybe , he'll only get better by the looks of it.

can't beat an addition like that... really helps and shows why getting in new blood at managerial level is also good.

"I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal," Stoichkov is reported as saying. "He's mediocre. He destroyed Barca and is destroying Man Utd.

"With what he has done to goalkeeper [Victor] Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn't leave.

"I would never leave if I was Pedro because if he goes there he would no longer be a footballer.

"He has spent £200m (at United) and the other day I saw his first game of the season: disastrous. He won 1-0 (against Tottenham) because of an own goal."

    Fair analysis. <ok>

Pedro should avoid Manchester United move, says Hristo Stoichkov

Manchester United are interested in signing Pedro from Barcelona
Barcelona great Hristo Stoichkov has urged Pedro not to join Manchester United as he feels Louis van Gaal is "destroying" the club .

The Spain international is a transfer target for United but Stoichkov feels he would be better off staying with Champions League winners Barcelona.

Stoichkov barely featured under Van Gaal when the pair worked together at the Nou Camp and he was sold by the Dutchman in 1998, bringing an end to his second spell with the club.

Hristo Stoichkov has blasted Louis van Gaal, not for the first time
The former Bulgaria international striker was scathing about Van Gaal when asked about him by Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

Luis Enrique thinks Pedro's future will be decided soon
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique hinted Pedro's future would be sorted out soon when he was asked about the transfer before the club's Super Cup final clash with Sevilla in Tbilisi.

He said: "I would like to keep all my players through the whole season. But we have talked enough about Pedro. The solution will arrive soon."

I highlighted this bit in my post but you need to expand the quote to see it

  13. So Stoichkov was a good enough target man for the long ball approach?

Certainly the Bayern heirarchy weren't sad to see him go.

I actually thought at the time that van Gaal was a decent short-term choice following Moyes' departure. He's got the ego and the experience to steady the ship, reagin some of the standing that Man U had lost and sort the team out for the present. Then, after 2--3 years, bring in a more long-term appointment to take the team forward before (or after) the massive fall-out from van Gaal.

While not everything's gone to plan so far, they're at least back in the Champion' League now, so in that sense, so far so good from their perspective.

We also now have the players that any other good manager should be able to use.
