The Benteke is a beast thread

I think I did indeed say in my post that it was still very early and that he had time. My post was more of a "first impressions".

Well, that's kind of the point. I'm not saying he is a bad player but he really didn't fit us yesterday. He looked a little lost out there. An improvement on last year.

 

Can always improves the team.


Milner was interesting. He clearly had lot of drive. He was a bulldog out there. Very determined and snapping at a lot of heels. The product of his efforts wernt a huge deal but no doubting the drive. Against less steely people he will wear them out.

Play like that every week though and he's going to pick up a lot of cards.

for me his position was all wrong.

In a 4-2-3-1 ne needed to be deeper but he was well up the pitch trying to make a difference

He needs to be let do that.. henderson sat better without question.

put can in and both can go forward or henderson can sit back if he's got a brain and takes instruction at times in key games.

 

his clattering of adam was a bit tasty but i doubt he'll do that all the time.

 

Adam got stuck in on Milner off the ball (didn't get picked up) which prompted Milner to get him back.

Good lad. We've got some physical lads in this team now.

 

yeah... proper stuff... gerrard is a sneak but milner just dug in for a ball good and hard but fiar.

I can't remember "who" but I do remember him "getting stuck in" an awful lot. Not necessarily fouls but he was physical on a number of potty stokers.

 

Created a couple of openings by getting stuck in too. Just the final ball and understanding (by both him and others) isn't there yet, only to be expected after playing The Nags Head XI etc in preseason

 

The squad is still not fit and we are still waiting to see Rodgers long term plan.

If its 4231 then Firmino will work with Benteke much better. If its 433 he will be a lot less isolated. Him and Sturridge could make a fantastic partnership.

 

As long as any of what you said a tally occurs sure. . Benteke is brill.

 

Hendo should have tee'd hin up to his feetwith that chance. Although I think Hando shouldve shot really

 

Hendo had time to control and pick a pass. However, I think he did the right thing and it was simply a case of not knowing each other well enough

 

Shouldce gone for goal for me. I think Benteke was poiting to the floor athim after thechance
