Just stuck this up on Southend's page but thought I'd share it here as it contains Ian McKechnie and Frankie Banks... I'll be posting his Southend stuff here, if anyone's interested. http://www.not606.com/threads/ian-mckechnie.308007/
You could be right John, I have Googled Don Beardsley Hull City and the pictures are very sparse in fact they bring up Peter Beardsley more often than not.
I think Malcom that the Hull City job was just a fill in before he took over at Arsenal and it helped him get his mate, Tommy Docherty, back into football after his exile from the game through his time at Manchester Utd.
Aye you could be right about that but there was bad blood between them going back to my Dads time at Arsenal. Coincidentally Jack McClelland (my Uncle) was also a Goalkeeper with Arsenal at the same time, he and Neill both played for Northern Ireland at the time.
Having never read it before, that excerpt from Neill's book saddens me somewhat. Why would he publish such details other than to generate more income in sales for his own benefit ? Whether his stories are true or not, they certainly didn't seem to impact the performance of the players mentioned to any significant degree over their careersat Hull City & the success of the team. Possibly Neill was deflecting criticism away from himself as he never really managed to get the team to perform to the standards of the 65-67 squad, nor take them to the highest level of the old First Division. Either way, not very professional of Neill - whatever the real situations may have been.
