So RR to misquote Churchill you merely deal in nominal inexactitudes even your definition of a vulgar expression of the female genitalia is wrong.

But my point stands. You've raised these issues on more than one previous occasion, so why the urge to create a separate thread on it?
Pace, as has been stated, is only one asset to a player. You're saying that Downing and Adam don't have blistering pace and therefore don't add anything extra to the team? (the bit in bold)
So the passing/crossing ability, good set piece delivery, and leadership skills these two players possess between them add nothing extra to what we already have? Not to mention left feet.

I've just read a thread which starting talking about pace and ended up arguing about how to say something in French! <laugh>

    Suarez.
    Spot on.
I'm 100% convinced that adding Adam and Downing will make a considerable improvement..to the area that is badly needing improvement and thats the away form.Thats their role,Adam as the tempo setter and Downing as the outlet.

Away form is now classed as an area which needs improving? You have signed two players specifically for away form?
Good lord your football knowledge is abysmal.

Every man and his dog knows that to prevent yourself from getting over-run in midfield you need an outlet and a deep-lying play-maker,the deep-lying play-maker slows down the tempo set by the home side. The outlet eases the pressure on the central midfield and also puts pressure on the opposing full-back.This is as I said is more necessary in away games.

    Good debate..at the start!

It's a fair point, we do still lack pace. I believe we will make up for this in quality and vision though.

    Keep the faith

1 demerit for you Chris and 1 detention as well! Don't you realise that we are supposed to keep the fact that liverpool fans are educated a secret? If you show them that we are educated they'll get very annoyed and wummy;)

Merci beaucoup agus go mo leisgeal.

I believe one-touch-two touch passing between players will compensate for a lack of pace..as we won't exactly be lumping it down field for players to chase.

True. We may be booting it a bit for Carroll though.

    Not necessarily.
I reckon there may be more diagonal balls when Carroll is in the side.Carra/Agger to Adam,Adam to Downing....Downing to Carroll.Sweeping one-touch two touch, moves also with as many players getting into the 18 yard box as possible to get on the end of rebounds. Its a very fluid system and doesn't necessarily require blistering pace.

The pre-occupation of the typical English football fan "pace & power" Got to be able to run a sub 11 secs in full football kit to be any good<doh>

And they wonder why European football is light years ahead technically. God forbide, that maybe, just maybe Kenny's building a team, that'll create chances. The fundimentals will be built on pass and move football, and the emphasis will be technic, teamwork and the the greater good of the collective. Was Beckham a world beating sprinter? Yet many consider him to be england's finest wide player ever.

Only a complete dick splash will see players as being any good if they can run like Usain Bolt on speed.

There is nothing wrong with a difference of opinion and it is welcomed on this board. However, talking utter ****e will be treated with the contempt it deserves.
