Gayle is 5'9", so smaller than RvW but certainly not one to fill the gap if Jerome is injured. Glen Murray would be more that, but he certainly didn't make much of an impression on Saturday. Mbokani would be my preference.
Apart from on Dorrans ankle with that dreadful first minute tackle, or on the side of Bradders head with his elbow/forearm smash - both of which were bottled by one of the most inept officiating teams I've ever seen (the ref is getting all the stick, but the linesman was as much if not more to blame).
So likely hood is its going to be this mbokani chap then. I can't see anything happening today though there is a lack of news.
Well whatever McNally meant, it perhaps wasn't a statement we were meant to all pick up on. Can't see an announcement coming today now, but hope it isn't too long so that the new player has time to integrate with the squad and train before the weekend.
This has been one of the dullest transfer windows ever. At least one of the big boys hasn't been trying to unsettle young Redmond, he has to be our best player a t m.
Well I hope you haven't talked anything up ! What I will say is that if the board do not address the CB and Striker 'problem' I can see them getting absolutely pilloried by the fans if we're in the bottom three at Xmas or worse still relegated at the seasons end. To be honest who could blame them. The board will have had since May to address the situation, if they're going to prat about like they did with the Brady transfer I fear we'll get the same lame excuse like 'our targets weren't available '
Yeah, thoroughly uneventful. Few deals (which have all been fairly uninspiring but sensible), very few rumours, no interest in our players... That said, Wisdom came pretty much out of nowhere, so perhaps the club have just done a very good job of plugging leaks. It'd be so nice to log on tomorrow to about £15m spent on a couple of quality players!
Gayle is closer to Grabban than Ricky. He has pace. He is better at finishing chances than Grabban though.
He'd be pretty ****e if his finishing was worse than Grabbans ! ****ed if I know what AN sees in him ????
Has anyone noticed that Grabban sometimes misses?, for example one of the two chances against Palace. I have seen better more expensive players miss worse sitters than that. The pass came in late , he had to stay onside , the defender got a touch and redirected it towards the keeper, he was at full stretch and hit the post. I can see Grabban getting about 10 goals in the next 37 games . Jerome about 15 .
Meanwhile, Dame N'Doye (remember us being linked to him?) has gone to Trabzonspor from Hull for about £2.2mil. EDIT: was that his release clause?
Not fussed about the player - in fact I'm not sure I've heard of him, but the point is WBA are showing ambition and commitment by 'splashing', for them, so much on one player to improve the overall squad. D McNally and the NCFC board, take note. Sometimes you will have to speculate to accumulate - and it's not as if we can't afford that sort of outlay, on a one-off basis. Transfer Central TNC @TransferNewsCen 2m2 minutes ago OFFICIAL: West Brom have signed Venezuelan striker Rondon from Zenit St Petersburg for £12million on a four-year contract.
Jebus Salomon Rondon is a cracking Signing for WBA! Palace getting Cabaye, Stoke getting Shaqiri, Sunderland getting M'Villa. The average/Poor teams are picking up Belting players. The Premiership has gone up another notch.
Rondon comes with a pretty decent reputation I believe. The PL may have gone up a notch, but the new TV money comes in next year and then it'll get truly ridiculous. I suspect this season a few teams may have been tempted to push their budgets to the limit to make sure they get a slice of the new, giant pie next season.
