BBC http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33842311 Leicester's Jamie Vardy has apologised and his club have promised to carry out an investigation after claims that the striker made a racial slur in a casino. The Sun on Sunday has published a video showing the alleged incident, believed to have taken place on Sunday, 26 July. "I wholeheartedly apologise for any offence I've caused," Vardy, 28, said. "It was a regrettable error in judgement I take full responsibility for, and I accept my behaviour was not up to what's expected of me."
He's an absolute bellend and total scum bag but it was hardly a racial slur, he called someone a jap. If that's considered racist, the world has truly gone ****ing insane.
Have to agree, it's similar to using Aussie for an Australian and that is not seen as a racial remark.
"Jap" has historically been used as a derogatory term though, whereas "Aussie" never has. Just because they're derived in similar ways doesn't mean you can treat them both the same. For instance, "Brit" isn't offensive, but the sensible majority on here would agree "Paki" is etc etc. If you watch the video, you can clearly see he's a Billy Big Bollocks trying to be offensive by using the term, so this is absolutely a racist incident. There's no point in denying it.
Didn't know jap was considered an offensive term. Mind you I had absolutely no idea chink was until blampers caused outrage on here. Funny thing is, in ignorance, I'd used it to the Chinese family who lived in my village and run the local Chinese takeaway countless times prior and they'd never batted an eyelid. Maybe they didn't know either
Another racist incident involving Leicester players? They’ll overtake the white ****e soon in the good old fashioned racism league. Be interesting how they treat one of their better players - after sacking a few of their (presumably) **** young ones in the summer.
If J*ps is a racist word now what do we call our J*ps eye? And what do the Japanese call theirs? Modern day pc is too much for me sometimes
Considering the cultural diversity (get me with my posh words) of Leicester, he might be better keeping his trap shut in future. IMO he looks like a typical chav.
Not watching the video but it sounds like he is using 'Jap' to refer to anybody from Asia in which case it is a racial slur, also why does he need to make reference to somebodies race unless its maliciously meant, it's not like he would be asking him politely where he came from.
