OK it is only 1 game but the post match interview by SC and the comments by SL are not positives, I don't blame the lads because..... the players up here are so expensive........... we lost the first game......... They need to show an outward positivity, not one of petty excuse factually, and historically teams in the top third and bottom third after 8 games usually stay there or finish up there. one or 2 buck the trend from time to time.... or swap with middle third come the end it is because a couple of wins early can be a fillip to get confidence growing (maybe worth 6 or more extra points ) or vice versa for the bottom confidence dented....
I'm not interested in the LC, but it will be interesting to see how we play against Brentford and what result we get.
Sooner or later someone on high will have to admit 'we've totally fu**ed up our recruiting this pre-season'.
Don't know that the screw up was total and perhaps an apology would help rather than excuses. If you didn't know how pricey things are up here then you didn't do your homework and most times dream always cost more than you thought. Don't make plans and commitments unless you are ready to take on the cost and heartaches that come with it. I remember the comments on this site regarding the trip to Botswana last year that worked miracles in the team bonding department because we had nearly all the pieces in place. This season we have torn the team apart with the departures so the pre-season trip to Portugal was never going to meet the standard set in the previous year. We now intend to make the actual season a bonding experience and we still are missing some vital pieces of the jigsaw which probably means a frustrating running-in process.
I have been uneasy at the lack of transfer activity too, but I will wait for the proverbial 10 games before saying we ****ed up. I don't like losing any games, but we are bound to lose some occasionally. This won't be the last.
I don't think the team is that bad, he couldn't really say the players we put out are not good enough! They did well till the first goal.. but a couple other players added as squad players...rotate a game we play this season? ... will not go amiss. I think in this division waiting till 10 could be to late, but also to late to anything about it... never really thought to much about it but I think we need 13 points on the board by the time we play IPSWICH what has happened to Statto this season???
We haven't become a bad team overnight What we have become is an underequipped team to compete with even average teams at this level The feel good factor we all basked in last season will soon disappear and the struggles will start if this goes on for long and it will affect the fans, management and the players. We all know it's only 1 game into the new season but the vibes and body language from the manager tell you all you need to know.
