Last season has gone mate, it's over, finished with. Yes we were ****e then as well, but most of last season was spent under another manager, not DA. I don't understand your argument mate, last season bears no relevance to this one.

IMO DA ****ed up yesterday, he went with the wrong partnership at the back, he should have went with JOS & Kaboul imo. Coates is a disaster waiting to happen and i just don't see what others see in him.

Wickham? what difference would he have made yesterday if as you suggest, we kept him till a replacement was found? none Cest and you and i both know it. I agree with the policy but Wickham wouldn't have made any difference to yesterdays performance.
We also don't know what targets DA had specified or indeed how much money is available, you're guessing and so am i, but i'm not going to judge Congertons or DA dealings until the window is shut. DA was on the radio a couple of days ago suggesting that new signings were being worked on but it wasn't his policy to go into details until a deal is done. He doesn't strike me as a liar so i'll take the bloke at his word and wait and see what transpires over the next few weeks.

We have improved. Just the only problem is, it is marginal. Lens is the only additino of note.

Typical Cest, bolting midway through a chat and then ignoring it all together the next day. Ignorant or what? Dummy spitting baby.

He really isn't the answer we desperately need quality in the middle of the park!

Could M'Vila not be the answer? Think he's earmarks to settle the CM. Think our other targets will be an attacking mid and a forward.

I think so far it's been ok, I think Lens will be a great addition and M'Villa is top quality in CM if he can get himself right. Kaboul adds pace and a slight increase in quality at CB.
Matthews tbh looks similar to Jones but the latter was dire yesterday so perhaps the younger, quicker lad will prove a shrewd move.

I think people are losing some perspective, we had a shocking day yesterday but it happens occasionally and will continue to. We don't need to rip up the playbook after every defeat. We have the same pts as Arsenal and Spurs and one fewer than Chelsea!

I do think we need another AM and a striker though but I fully expect that Dick feels the same.

I'd like to see a big man who can hold the ball up, allowing our quick wingers and full backs to play off him.

I agree. But like I said earlier, we can't expect the machine to work until all the parts are fitted, we're two parts short of getting the engine running adequatelty. There's some back up parts needed for LB too imo.

    We're still above arsenal...

I think we've had a decent window. Signed players in needed positions but have anothe 4 weeks of it left! Lens better than what we had. As Advocaat said we need a striker. I think 3 or 4 for £25m is unrealistic. 1 big money I think and at least one loan is what'll happen

Yea. PVA badly needs competition and coaching! He's rapid though.
Target man, ACM and MVILLA in for Defoe Catts and Rodwell.(4231)

Definitely this, it's early doors yet and far from panic stations as others would suggest. It's a 'work in progress' and we'll have a much better idea of what to expect by the end of the month.

Id rather it be an adaptable forward, and AJ out leaving Defoe in. But yeah, similar lines, depends on what Dick wants.

Defoe scored and almost got a second. He's not the problem here

I rate Defoe but do you think he fits the system?
I'm not too unhappy if he stays in and we get more creativity behind/around him.
BUT, one option is to bench him and play around a proper lone striker, who we'd have to buy of course!

The midfield and defence were completely to blame. The strikers scored 2 goals away from home I can't ask for more than that.

Can't u remember last season already? You can't be naive enough to think we are a fully functioning attacking unit, just cos we got a couple of goals v Leicester?!

If he is anything like me, he will have done his very best to ensure he never remembers last season ever again!

I think he will score goals no matter the system we're getting better players so better delivery, more chances more goals IMO :)

So long as he's in the middle and gets the service Defoe will always pop up with decisive goals. He disappears in games, always has done and always scored goals with it, he makes runs, it's a matter of playing him in, the service needs to see hit those runs.
