I think there must be a test match or something coming up involving England (I don't really care what it is). But Sky Sports News have been reporting today that the England team lost a warm-up match due to lack of "Match fitness". WTF?????? Match fitness in cricket!!! I've seen 90 year old woman expend more energy crossing the road.
Apparently cricketers are very fit these days. Not sure why though, as they seem to spend most of their time stood about doing **** all.
They probably meant that they were laciking fitness in terms of playing tests but even that seems a tad incongrous as they only finsihed a series against Sri Lanka the other week. I'm a boig fan of the sport but you don't really need any more fitness for that than you do for playing darts (I'm speaking from experience as my team plays in a right load of old **** holes and you have to be ready to leg it at any given moment!)
Exactly, I'm 68 and 42 stone and I could still field in a test match. Cricket is a big bunch of ****.
Fast bowlers have to be fit, all that running. In general players are fitter these days as they are expected to be lively in the field chasing after the ball not stand watching it bobble to the boundary.
Nothing wrong with liking cricket - it pisses women right off if you spend 8 hours watching it at the weekend so that has to be a plus. The impact can be made worse if you spend the breaks gambling her housekeeping away on the horses.
You spend 8 hours watching cricket? FFS, have you nothing better to do? I thought my life was sad but I feel mightly better about it now.
Was thinking similar, I love the game. Played it for years and go to at least one test a year, it's bloody brilliant. Lazy **** criticism from people who can't be arsed to look further than football.
As the number one associate nation, I'd love to have a test side to follow instead of hemorrhaging our best players to england. t20 is a fun game, one dayers are great but test level is where it's at. 3 totally different games with a completely different dynamic. I do understand why folk don't like it who have given it a chance but it is all too easy to dismiss it without ever bothering.
Went to see an IPL Twenty20 game in Chennai about 2 months back which is the first time I've bothered to actually learn the rules - quite enjoyed it although did find the game quite strange. For instance after getting a wicket everyone gets quite excited and gives each other high fives etc, even though they just sub the guy who is out with another batsman. It's like the whole Man United team all giving each other the high five and the stadium going nuts after Liverpool take Gerrard off for a sub. Bizarre.
