He looked unfit which isn't surprising. Mitrovic will prove to be quality.

 

Reasonable start. Very good performances from Gini, M'bemba and Colback. Colo and Obo were decent. Style of football was so much better than last year. Explosive start from Nitro and a lot to build on.

Haidara showed why we need a left back and if we could get two more players in of Gini and M'bemba's quality I feel we could be in the top ten and fringes of Europa League qualification with the wind blowing in the right direction, holding your lucky rabbit's foot etc.

 

I am fairly pleased with that and it was probably a fair result.

There was some shocking defending on display. Haidara was quite comical to watch, that Tadic was taking the piss in the end. No where near stopping the cross. Predictable mis-control out of ply first half. Colo was awful. I'd love to say he wasn't fit but sadly its the same errors as always. He just hasn't got a clue on crossed balls. He is either underneath ball, just plain not marking and missing in action, or getting pulled out of position too easy chasing strikers into midfield. Janmaat had a good game but he didn't do enough on Longs. I like the look of Mbemba though. Quick and very strong.

Midfield was where we impressed. Gini was a different class. Colback was superb. We missed Anita when he went off. Sissoko did well and Obertan produced a superb ball. Cisse did well up top too.

We look fairly strong when you look at our bench. Really it is criminal if we don't go out and sign a centre back and left back. We have long needed quality in these two areas. I think we could be comfortably away from danger if we signed the two needed.

Disappointed we didn't play Aarons.

 

Haidara was shocking defensively. Gave far too much time for crossing on both goals. He had some decent forward play, though when he had to deliver a final ball none was there.

I think we would have seen Aarons at some point if Anita hadn't been injured. However, once we had an unfit Tiote on the pitch we were sitting much deeper and more vulnerable defensively. Obertan was having a decent game and I think Aarons would have made that left side even weaker defensively (can't believe I'm justifying Obertan staying on).

 

Well **** me sideways that was actually entertainment today... It gets tougher i think we will lose the next three so irs a shame we couldn't hold on for the win.

A mixed bag but we desperately require a left back and im sorry to say but enjoy gini because he's going to be here a season st the very most.

If you don't think what im saying is a definite possibility if hes as good as he appears to be then you know absolutely nothing about football.

 

Given you were slumming it at the match today in your new cheap seats, how was the view?

Well if we wernt pretty much guaranteed to lose the next 3 games id be happy but even if we signed a lb abd Austin we will probably still lose all three. If we can somehow win just one of the three thats a fairly good start but its a big if. I almost feel sorry for mclaren with the first set of fixtures being so brutal because any optimism will be down the drain in 3 games time. Hope to god im wrong.
