So the Adebeyor deals dead? FUUUUUUUUCK :(

Also, Chadli should've been given 7, Eriksen 10 and Kane keep 18 until next season when 9 will surely be freed up.

I'm happy with Kane being given the No.10 jersey, as that's the shirt we give to our talismans - notably Sheringham and Keane. On the other hand, the No.9 shirt has been worn by duff strikers (Raziak, Pavlyuchenko), great strikers who left in the ****tiest way possible (Berbatov), or players who aren't even strikers (Anderton)

Nice reading of the auspices, Huddlefro.

Anyone else happy Soldado may be staying? He may not be able to score, but he's a solid backup striker who can work with our system, mentor youngsters and interchange nicely with other players.

Soldado staying isn't the worst thing in my humble opinion. He always looks good on the ball, until he has to shoot. Great in setup play.

Who knows, maybe he'll find form. If Falcao can do it, so can Soldado. Worth a try I think.

I'd certainly be a lot happier to see Soldado at the club on September 2nd than Adebayor.

...okay, maybe I should try a bit harder...

...while it hasn't worked out as well as he'd hoped, Soldado's attitude can't be faulted: he still puts in a ton of effort, he doesn't throw a strop because things aren't working out the way he'd hoped, and he seems to get on well with his teammates. He's been a model pro, and on that basis alone he deserves to rediscover his scoring touch so he doesn't go into the history books as a punchline.

Curses! He'd have been a really great signing for a year.

I'm really starting to think that we're not signing a DM at all, or at least not one which we would class as 'experienced' which is a hugely bold move.

I'm sure we'll sign a forward (possibly a player who can play up top and out wide) and a striker too if that player isn't versatile enough though. Lets not forget that we didn't see any of Pritchard in pre-season too, and he's sure to feature this season.

No one else has noted that the 26 shirt is still going free. Has Ledley grown a new knee?

There was a campaign to get it retired but I don't think the club took it very far. I think I heard at the time that its being held empty so that if Ledley's son plays for Spurs, he gets that number.

Apparently we're loaning Veljkovic to Leeds, presumably in anticipation of him getting a full season under his belt in the Championship then having a shot with us next year. Makes sense for us too, what with having 5 senior CBs already plus CCV and the Serbian.

I guess that means cash + Fazio for NJie isn't happening.

On the subject of Lyon players linked with us in the past week, I'm sure it will come as a shock when you hear that Lacazette has signed a new contract with them...

Lacazette signing is probably good news for us because they wouldn't want to lose both of their forwards in one window. N'Jie is probably the one they'd feel the loss of less. I see no reason we wouldn't still include Fazio in the deal if we could, it would still leave us with 2 right and 2 left sided CBs, plus the youth teamers. I don't see Fazio getting too much game time this year, unless Dier really really isn't seen as a CB anymore for some unfathomable reason.

Frazier Campbell is looking for first team football, He will be cheap, has re-sell value and doesn't score often, that is the type of striker I'm expecting us to sign, or some young foreign striker who will turn out to yet another dud signing.

Adebayor may receive stick, yet he has contributed to one of the most exciting seasons in our premier league history and when he returned to the team under Sherwood, he was the one showing passion and leadership, and yes much of that is for his own benefit, but at least the guy has played his part , I would much rather see that, then a nice guy who costs 26 million but will never be a success.

  15. It is being reported that United have made "discreet" enquiries after Kane, following the weekend's game.

Well, I expect Levy to tell the Glaziers to discreetly **** off!

How are they 'discreet' if every Hoddle and his dog know about it?

    Indeed!

"I made a discreet enquiry about Kane's availability," Van Gaal told the World's waiting press and other media outlets.

Kevin-Prince Boateng is looking for a club after being released last season, which I would guess was due to his attitude, but not what we need.

    Berbatov on a free transfer?

WBA sign Rondon from Zenit for £12mill . Could this mean one of their strikers is going somewhere?
