Second half much better, especially the last quarter. Shane Long is Super Saints super sub.Considering all the travelling Saints have done in the last few days it was a good effort in the end.Now to make my week all the sweeter stoke to beat Liverpool.
Yeah, in the end a point is probably a fair result. And a point away is not bad. I would say most of our shaky defending was more due to disorganization than players getting massively outplayed. So hopefully that will solve itself in a few games. Martina started off a little sketchy, but I didn't think he was that bad. Not as good as Bertrand, obviously but no complaints about him as a backup. Mane was incredible. I will cut him some slack on that last miss as he did so well to get into position in the first place, and he had to have been completely wiped out. That was a fairly physical game, with lots of back-and-forth. Probably felt like they had played for 120 minutes by the end.
Yep, Davis MOM for me as well. I guess we would have taken a point before the game, so all in all a good result. Positives for me are Jay playing 65 mins. and defence looking tidy even with 4 of last seasons back 5 missing from the line-up?
Mané, Davis and Tadić were our three best. Fonte, Targett and Rodriguez were our three worst. I'm happy with a point.
Yes, but he made them into excellent chances. So you can sort of let him off not scoring them. It's not like the ball came to him four yards out and he has spooned it over.
Good, entertaining game that. I told your our left side was awful, Haidara only ever thinks about going forward. I'd have us down as the better team for 60ish minutes. You came on strong in the last 20-25 minutes and if anyone looked like winning it in the last 5 minutes it was you. I'd say a draw was fair result. Happy to stop the losing streak against Saints too. Best of luck for the rest of the season guys
Very pleased with Tadic today. Mane I was expecting to be a threat but Tadic didn't exactly look great against Vitesse so I'm very pleased he had a good game today.
MOTM has to be Mane for me. But Davis did put in his typical gut-busting shift, working hard at both ends of the pitch and stabilizing things a bit when they threatened to get out of control. He played well. Mane, Pelle, Long, Tadic were all good. The defense let us down a bit, and Wanyama was too sloppy with his passing today (though solid on defense). Been a long time since I felt like a Saints game might end up 3-3 or 4-4!
Last season there were matches in which it looked as if we can't score or concede a goal, but today it looked as if we can score or concede at any moment during the match.
I thought Mane looked sluggish at times, and his passing was pretty poor, but even so, he was still by far our most dangerous player. He'll be killer in 4-5 games time.
