How was it a penalty? My understanding is that there has to be movement towards the ball or in an unnatural position, as he had jumped and was about to land it is natural for his arm to be in that position.
For a penalty to be given the hand ball has to be deliberate, that was never deliberate in a month of Sundays. He wasn't even looking at the ball, it was behind him and not everyone has Willie Collum's untrammelled eyesight.

He also influenced the flight of the ball that could have prevented a goal scoring opportunity which is another stipulation of a referees decision to award a penalty in handball situations. The pundits failed to mention that. There was a big stooshy last season involving a club because of that very reason.
