To have run the champs ragged before and after the dangerous sending off bodes well for our first game. I made it 6 - 3 swans win if chances were taken but a draw is a great result. Montero is still awesome and if stays injury free will become one of the best in the prem IMO. Just hope we continue to beat the big boys but also are now capable of beating the other teams that we usually compete for around mid table and the lower boys too, could be even bigger and better to come for us on this long ride up from bottom to the top ?
- Garry Monk's Swansea are the first away team to score twice at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League since they did so last September. - Swansea join Wolves as the only teams to hit 10+ shots on target in a Premier League game away at Chelsea in the Opta database. - Thibaut Courtois' red card was Chelsea's 70th in the Premier League, 17 of which have come under Mourinho (24%). - Bafetimbi Gomis is one of two players (along with Naismith) to have scored v Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City & Man Utd over the last 2 Premier League seasons. - Oscar has scored three goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances - all coming against Swansea. - Andre Ayew has scored in eight of his last 14 league game (France and England), including four of his last six. - It took Ayew 599 minutes to score his first goal in Ligue 1; he scored after 29 minutes in the Premier League. - In 24 Premier League seasons, the defending champions have never lost their opening game (winning 20 and drawing four). - Chelsea have won 14 and lost none of their last 17 Premier League fixtures on the opening weekend. The Blues haven’t lost a season opener since 1998/99 vs Coventry City.
I have to say Monk would have been watching the Wednesday game v Fiorentina and was more than confident to go at them , very brave decision imo to set us up as attack minded as he did
The Good Montero - MOTM by a country mile, superb game. We must protect him though, the quick bursts, sharp stops, twists and turns which define his play also put him at high risk of ligament strain and muscle tears. If we want him to play all season, as much as we want him to, he wont start every game. Shelvey absolutely superb. All of our game went through him and our go forward came from him. He was rock solid, focused and completely in control, he drove us. Cork, a rock as usual. Always 100% every minute he plays. Ayew - seamlessly fitted in. Involved in the game and if he plays at this level all year will end up with double figures in his goals column. Back four - all fantastic, uncompromising and I loved the way Williams and Fernandes bullied Costa Eder - a very nice surprise for me as I thought we'd bought a filler. Happy to be wrong, again, as he looks a very decent prospect. Quick, sharp, eager and willing to play and got involved in the game immediately he came on. He was very visible during his short time on the pitch and looked good. The Bad Siggy - tried hard but played head down football, was too slow in head and feet, passing the ball away or dispossessed when things got intricate around the box. Depending on Ki's injury I'd prefer Ki with Cork with Shelvey between Monty and Ayew and ahead of them. Gomis, average and wasn't in sync with our midfield. His timing was way out and when he did get himself in he lacked the confidence to pull the trigger. He should never have been off-side for his disallowed goal and he would have been off-side, leading to the penalty, if it wasn't for a lazy Chelsea defender playing him on. He took the penalty superbly well though which went a ways to making up for his earlier 'misses'. He should get better with games but if he doesn't "he's behind you", Eder that is. Ki's injury, I hope and pray its not seriouse The Ugly John Terry, dirty, filthy, cheating piece of sh1t. Costa flopping around like a rag dog The child Jose Mourinho for cowardly blaming the referee because we made his team look average, as proven by the games stats. Maybe Jose should check them out as he cries into his cornflakes this morning.
I haven't stopped reading the tabloids, the New York Times has a very good article on the game and us in particular........... Jose, oh jose, You are a friend of mine, I like to drink you with a little salt and lime ................
Could have added Fernandez to the good Stumpy. He was superb yesterday. Taylor had a very good game too I'd personally would have added Routs to the bad. When he came on, our attacking threat on the left died. There's a massive gap in ability between him and Montero
I put all the back four in the good Valley but I totally agree, Fernandez was superb and deserved an individual mention The whole back four played superbly well as a unit though and I loved the way they made Costa look a softie.
But Jose thought it was a penalty Valley. Maybe that's why he calls himself 'the special one' because he has trouble dealing with reality, what a tit he is.
Maureen blaming the physios now lol http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ss-Jose-Mourinho-hits-naive-medical-team.html
