REALITY CHECK WHAT WE HAVE IS UNLIKELY TO MAKE ANY SORT OF IMPRESSION AT THIS LEVEL AND WEDNESDAY ARE NOT A GREAT TEAM WE NEED A KEEPER AND MORE QUALITY PLAYERS ESPECIALLY AT THE BACK I'M GLAD ITS HAPPENED IN THE FIRST GAME IN A WAY. PLENTY OF TIME...........
Yes expected better than a 2-0 tonking. Reality check,Sheffield weds ain't going to be top six,mid table I reckon. Still on long way to go,but generally top sides start well and keep going well. Interesting to see what happens next week at Luton and then home to Brentford.
Loads of teams lose their first game don't mean they are in for a hard time. Who cares if Wednesday in some's opinion ain't going to do well, they might go onto to win their next 10 games? It's marathon not a sprint, Kodja got to get used to the championship (service would be nice) Fredericks sounded better on the left. Burns played well hopefully he keeps it up. Disappointed that I didn't hear Wilbraham or Agards name a lot though.
Oh joy, It's going to be great listening to everyone overreact again, we are going to lose a lot more this season
Well we are off to the races although we stumbled a bit over the fences. Probably what most of us expected to be honest and I don't think we can even begin to evaluate the team until later after all players have had the chance to play as a team. First game of the season away from home at what can always be expected to be a tough venue to get points. Onwards and upwards.
Not an ideal start but early days. If we learn from the mistakes and correct them we'll be fine. If we don't - and we go on a losing streak then the boo-boys will come out - with some justification. Right now it's day 1. Big deal.
Sheff Wednesday brought a 2 million pound sub on. We had to use Wes Burns, who was probably our best player, a loan and a striker who isn't fully fit. Sheff Wed will be up there I think.
Many of the City afficianados on OTIB have gone into meltdown. So last season is really over and back to reality.
Losing on the first day of the season is always a particularly bitter pill to swallow, given the length of the wait building up to it, but the reality was always that we're going to lose a lot more this season than last. I guess the most disappointing aspect is that we never really much looked like scoring (bar the goal-line clearance, just before the breakaway 2nd goal). No reason to over-react, and perhaps in many ways a great lesson learned by the players playing at this level. My view is that by and large we passed it around well enough, but that we never really had a sense of urgency (very SOD era-esque in that regard). The 1st half didn't have much action at all and if anything we dominated possession, but early/mid 2nd half, Wednesday really cranked up the tempo, we couldn't handle it and they scored a deserved opener. Then it was easy for them to sit back and hit us on the counter as we needed to go looking for a goal - which they did to perfection for the second. They'll be more weekends like this, but I'm confident we'll pick up enough points to survive.
Christ sake, we've played one match and lost, oh my dear god that is not allowed, why don't we wait for the proverbial 10 and then make a judgement, give all of our boys from top of management to the youngsters a chance. Steve C you are our main man and long may it continue and if you, our fans don't believe in our gaffer there is not a lot I can say.
We all believe in SC, but is he getting the financial backing he needs to strengthen the squad to the degree he wants to? Questionable I'd say.... None of us want a return to employing overpaid journeymen but there needs to be a balance struck otherwise we may struggle.
It amazes me how many of our posters dont go to the away games, if you dont go, you dont know...nickh spot on with his report of the game.
Maybe thats because he knows he didn't get it right. By all accounts a very unCotterill type of performance. I reckon it was cups and saucers time Bigjohnayteo - Lucky is the man who can do everything in this life that he wants to. I may be over 1000 miles from Hillsborough, but I still kicked every ball same as you did Memo: Its now 2015 - and the world is a smaller place
There was an interview with Lansdown who says they still want three players at least. What they also said is the financial incentive the agents want to just be able to speak to their player that is restricting them. Sometimes the percentage is unacceptable. It's funny that some who criticise the running of the club, but still want Lansdown to spend spend spend? The two just don't really go together. You either don't want him /them at the club so we can run on 14k fans per week budget or you do want him to run the club and spunk money away to complain that that's wrong.
Knew if I started doing these again we'd lose! Won't be making one for Luton, strictly league games & big cup games should we get one.
