Can't see us playing too often without at least one of Hendo or Milner so I guess it's good in that regard
Milner in at 7:30am.... Avoids the traffic and gets free breakfast... cheapskate. His commitment puts the critics to shame.... clowns giving nothing but guff when lfc barely have a midfield.
I honestly can't believe a player that hasn't even played a competitive game for us is made vice captain Seriously ****ing stupid decision imo. imagine how the loyal players that have been around a while must be feeling.
what loyal players rodgers says he is setting the right tone... our lot proved last year they are a bunch of bottling bolloxs..... theres clyne, milner, firmino and benteke straight in the first team and the rest better get thier collective acts together.
I've no problem with it going to Milner. Calm, experience player who knows what to do, isn't that what you want in Cpt or Vice (also passion, not something I think of with Milner but 2/3 isn't bad). Anyone else think this might have been part of the negotiations?
Doubt it cos it'd be announced sooner There was no reason not to announce the day henderson was in that case. I think he's just proved to be most professional of the bunch over the preseason. For me henderson is no captain at all.
Skrtel. I know some people on here slate him at every given chance - but he's been an excellent servant to the club over the years and for me he deserves a bit of recognition for that. I might be in the minority, but I think he's a very good defender, yes he has his bad days - but how many times does he come in with a perfectly timed last ditch sliding tackle. He's a beast on his day.
I'm no skrtel hater either and agree he has days where he is a monster but I also don't think he is the sort of character to let this get to him and will respect the decision
He shouldn't have to do so many last ditch tackles if his positioning was better. He's a MOTD player - will do some crunching tackles or score from a corner which looks good.
Not sure I would want to burden him with that added responsibility - he's already the fulcrum of our attack and everything will go through him. I'm sure he's respected because he is arguably the best player in our team but not sure he carries the authority
Couldn't care less about vocal or authority. The captain only really matters of you manage to win something so pick someone that will lead by example.
I would wish for real leaders in every line... the armband is irrelevant but it adds other off filed duties that are unwritten as it were. you really want a strong leader in goal, at CB, CM and upfront... guys to demand and instruct.
Yeah and torres too. And alonso... and kuyt. You could hang your hat on their performance day in day out.... and hyppia too.
