Just got back.....you know absolutely f**k all about our fanbase in Arnhem. The atmosphere was fantastic all day, Saints fans were a credit to the club. The locals and Arnhem fans in the hundreds of bars in the town embraced us. The locals were very knowledgeable and appreciative of our past military exploits in their town. The trouble kicked off in a bar opposite train station, 50 feyenoord have marched over there undetected hell bent on trouble with anyone. Yes Saints fans got caught up in the crossfire but to say 1400 pricks got most of the tickets is pathetic. FYI there were probably around 3000 Saints fans in Arnhem.
All right, that was before I knew Feyenoord fans got involved. From a video I watched it looked like there were quite a lot of Saints fans involved. They were obviously Feyenoord fans.
Saints have said they will deal appropriately with the fans involved when all the facts are known. Although fans who behaved very badly should get bans, it will be a great shame if they just got caught up in something out of their control. Not a believer in violence, but you aren't going to stand there and get hit are you?
Just watched this on Saints Player. Had let my membership lapse because there was little new stuff on it last year, but bought a single year pass as I missed watching old games. Much better quality now, so think it will turn out to be worth it. They asked if I had a voucher (which I didn't) so may have been worth hanging on for an offer.
Indeed. If u are attacked be it at football or anywhere else you have to decide what you will do in that second. Pictures and short clips only give a snapshot in time they do not tell the story. People jump to conclusions based on the snapshot in time.
As far as I can find out there were six 'English' arrests, probably Saints, but not all specified as such and one poor soul taken in to custody for getting totally rat arsed and probably kept in for his own safety. 70 other arrests.
