The difference in physicality between the two teams was embarrassing at times. VVD was just running through them like that time Pud heard Greggs was doing a 2-for-the-price-of-1 special on steak bakes.

If I was Ian Black, I would've had the brains to keep my mouth shut today.

IAN Black last night branded Old Firm referee Craig Thomson a bottler for failing to send off Celtic skipper Scott Brown. The combative Rangers midfielder was on the end of a crunching tackle in the dying stages of yesterday’s 2-0 defeat in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden .

Brown – who was named Man of the Match – picked up a booking but Black insisted that was a cop-out from whistler Thomson. And the Ibrox star is convinced he would have seen red if he’d committed the same foul which sparked a row between both sets of players. Black said: “Scott Brown’s challenge at the end was naughty but I’ll take it. “I went to the referee and if he was a bit of a man and it was earlier on in the game then Brown would have walked up the tunnel. <laugh>

“But it was the end of the game and I felt he bottled it. <laugh>

“It was a copout. I know 100 per cent if that was myself I would have walked – and people would have lapped it up.” Despite the defeat, Black insists the Hampden occasion has only made him more determined to get Rangers back into the big time . He wants to ensure the Old Firm fixture is a regular feature on the calendar again and is targeting promotion from the Championship. The former Hearts ace said: “Scott Brown is a good player, an international player, and we both competed well. I look forward to maybe more of these battles. “You want to compete at the top level and this is where we’re trying to get to.

“As soon as we get there, we can enjoy more games like this and it can be great. “I shook Scott Brown’s hand at the end and congratulated him. I know him off the park and he’s a good lad. I enjoyed going up against him.”

I think it was an awful pity that the Scottish Football authorities stopped employing
a compliance officer. McCullagh for his elbow on Griffiths and stamping on Guidetti
should have been invited up to Hampdon with Black for his pathetic moaning

I cannot see how any Celtic fans would still want Newco back, too many thugs that should be
barred from football stadiums all over Britain, and that's not even thinking about the fans.

I posted about 7 replies, I've posted about 10 times more than that on threads about conspiracy theories, music, movies, albums, history, Jews, Mossad, JFK, Books and European games. Most of those topics I don't really care about, I just like discussion.

    Good try, zero cigar

Do I miss the games? Aye, a bit.

Would I do anything to see them return? No.

Do I look forward to them more than any other game? Nope, never have done, European Nights are where it's at for me.

Does Scottish Football need it? Publicity wise yes, and lots of people round the world want to see the games, but money is not the be and end all, the return of these games is not going to generate a fraction of the monies sloshing around Europe, we'd still be pishing against the wind when it comes to finance so there is little inducement at present for any club to pine for Rangers joining the SPFL.
