Yes, it's a conundrum for any prospective buyer. If he proves again this season that he's the real thing, then his price will rise. He's just 21, English, etc. If he can't, then the hubbub will die down. My own feeling is that, if he can avoid the Charlie Adams of the world, he'll have a decent season, if not as startling as the last one.
Yep, he's good enough to have another decent campaign and he'll be a tricky player to mark. If I was Poch I'd give him a free role a bit like Redknapp did with Bale and let him drift in from the left and right, otherwise he's going to get man marked and possibly doubled up on. It's a bit of a double edged sword for Spurs, if Kane does have another stand out season, then the big boys will come in with bids for him. If he doesn't then Spurs might just be holding onto a decent striker, but not a player who can help you push on to the next level.
I correctly predicted that Kane would be going no where this season. I'll stick my neck out and predict he'll go no where next season, regardless of how well he does.
I thought signings were meant to be quality not quantity? A lot of clubs have bought 7/8 or 9 players this is too many players in one transfer window, solid team Spurs will have this season just need another midfielder and striker I think and they are good to go really.
At one stage some 2nd division Italian club were asking about him He's basically worthless now. I'm just hoping someone thinks like Rodgers did and suddenly has a moment of madness and thinks 'I'll get the best out of him' - unlikely to be fair.
But their squad is as thin tracing paper. Yeah to be fair on a #wumfree basis their starting 11 seems fairly decent - I worry for them in case of any injuries. If Kane and Erikson get injured they're literally screwed.
I can't disagree in all honesty. I think most of us feel the same. Ade hasn't even got a squad number and Soldado couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, right now. Eriksen is by far our best creative outlet, so he's just as important. Just hope 'last minute Levy' pulls something out before the window closes.
He had that moment when he bought him. Now he is Rodgers scapegoat, well he is now Brendan has thrown his backroom staff under the bus.
He's more like the Albatross hanging round Brenda's neck. I would imagine there were people advising against taking the ******, but as usual, Brenda knew best.
From the perspective of Southampton FC he sure does. He knew how to single handedly finance our best PL season ever, all he wanted was (as we now know in hindsight) our deadwood.
At first glance, the Spurs squad does look paper-thin, but I get the impression that it is, and always was, Poch/Levy's intention to blood a lot of our youngsters, and I expect to see several get their big chance, in the coming season. Poch has already made noises (to the Spanish media) that Spurs haven't spent the money to compete for the top 4, and I cannot image that someone as usually so tight-lipped as he would have said that without first having discussed the situation with Levy. Therefore, I a working on the asumption that Levy isn't expecting going to be spending big bucks for any more players, but the trade off is that neither will be be expecting Poch to get us top 4 this sseason. From Levy's point of view, this has got to be good business all round. There's no point in us having a brand new spanking academy if we don't put it to good commerical use. Plus, there are a number of cracking youngsters who have the real potiential to set the league on fire, if not this season, certainly next.
But you don't support Southampton?? Your first 250 posts were on the Liverpool board, until they gave you 1/10 for wumery and banned you
I know you remain thoroughly undecided on the matter, but could this new academy and these 'cracking youngsters' have an influence on the shift in power that may or may not be happening in North London ?
Definitely, Saints! Imagine if we could turn out the likes of Bale and Modric without it costing us a bean! Or the odd Kane, King and Gazza! We'd be able to sell half those players in order to be able to pay the ones we keep. The infamous Power-Shift could be completed in a matter of two seasons! However, as you correctly stated, I remain undecided on the matter, and you who predict that it's coming are going to have to work a bit harder to convince me, I'm afraid.
We've been through this before. During my travels on the Liverpool board I was the embodiment of reality and because of this the writing was always on the wall. Wumming was never my intention, only even handed debate with a factual basis. This of course lead your board to descend into total chaos.
The reference is to the great and long-expected North London Power-Shift, a process whereby the dominance in football, in North London, transfers from Arsenal to Spurs, and remains there for some considerable time. Some believe that the process has started, and would cite the fact that over the past several seasons Spurs have steadily moved closer and closer to Arsenal in the league, and have attained a consistency never-before achieved by them in the Prem, complete with continuous European footy over several seasons. With the addition of a new state-of-the-art academy and new stadium, many believe that the reality of a Power-Shift is assured. Me, I'm not so sure. I have constantly stated that there is some way to go before I am going to be convinced that the Power-Shift is going to take place so soon.
I've been there, brother! I hadn't been posting to this site for very long before I was banned from the 'Pool board. From my perspective, all I did was engage in some gentle banter with the Mousers, believing in all that crap about Scousers having the best sense of humour in the world. Have they ****! They are a bunch of miserable, thick bastards. The average Mouser on this site wouldn't recognise a humorous comment if it rushed up behind him, dragged his shell-suit trousers to his thighs, and rogered him up the arse with the rough end of a pineapple! The funny thing is that all the things I was allegedly wumming them about - such as Benitez getting the sack, Alonso ****ing off somewhere else, the club going down the pan (this was before Hicks and Gillett had ****ed off and the bank ended up selling the club off at a bargain-basement price) - all turned out to be completely true! It's hardly my fault that, compared with your average Mouser, I am Albert Einstein! I soon discovered, however, that Mousers are terrified of intellect. You only have to look at the god-awful comedians they've produced, and it's little wonder that the hey-day of Scouse wit was during the 70s, before we had a proper of choice of TV channels!
