Tevez had one decent enough season, that's it. Agree on Heinze too, he was a grade A top drawer **** stain. He wasn't even that good either. After those two and now Di Maria I'd just as soon we steered clear of Argies.
I didn't rate Heinze. He was all elbows and a red card waiting to happen. The Liverpool thing was a joke.
We've not had much luck. They all seem to come from the slums and spent their childhood eating tin cans but somehow cant handle the luxury of Chesire. For players who according to their sob stories, didnt have any clothes until they were 13 and lived in bins, they all seem very soft, emotional and pathetic. Then again, they're Argentinan. Messi would probably be the same.
I think they want pampering. Thats the issue. United isnt a club that cuddles its players and holds their hands. So when di maria was crying about being tackled, he would have been told to stop being a fanny and grow a pair. When Tevez moaned about the food in Manchester, he would have been told to starve etc... They are the football equivalent of wannabe gangsta's.
I'm talking about player ability. You know that thing a footballer does on a pitch. As soon as I read "he scored 5 league goals" I knew what was coming next. You're so predictable
So right you mean? Heinze was an ok left back. Remember he had a decent free kick on him and got the crowd up for it but I don't recall him being anything more. Then he tried to move to Liverpool. So whether he was the messi of left backs or not, went out the window.
The only reason you mentioned the free kick is bcos that's all you remember. The fact that's all you can remember of him doesnt mean he did nothing else. Yeh sorry cant bring myself to raise that faux outrage like you. Had he not been blighted by injury he would have gone on to be our regular LB, wouldnt have had to leave and the rest of the bollox wouldnt have happened. You have to stop thinking every player that plays for United has grown up on tge streets of Salford. That's not how 90% of the players think these days. Our frickin captain was considering fcking off to City. We've had club legends do so.
I'm pretty sure my last few posts in this very thread have stated how a number of our players grew up in the slums of Argentina. So I am quite sure I know that they haven't all grown up on the streets of Salford It's quite a few years ago and while I can't recall anything in great detail It doesn't mean that's all I remember. It was a good few years ago and he left on poor terms. I don't have particularly fond memories due to that. He was a decent, hardworking left back at the end of the day. Should I be writing long essays about players whenever they are brought up? Perhaps if I include a 5 second YouTube video of them doing something awful to support my point? Would you then stop moaning?
You're the one moaning mate and getting "outraged". I think he was a good player. Btw if you knew he grew up on the slums of argentina (which lets be honest only highlights your general stereotyping) then you'd know he'd very likely have no loyalty to United.
In the great scheme of things Heinze was a good left back, not as good as Evra and nowhere near Irwin but as good as anything in between. He was fast, could tackle, was rarely caught out of position (and his speed pulled him out when he was), he was also a threat in the oppositions area and a good asset in ours and also had a decent cross on him. His request to join Liverpool left a nasty mark on his character but other than that he was worth his time with us in my opinion.
Bit unfair to bring Irwin into the discussion. The only other left back in the PL era who could be compared to him is Cashley! One of Fergie's greatest signings. What a player.
Im neither moaning nor outraged you've said he was a good player, I've said he was decent. For wanting to leave and join Liverpool I'm not his biggest fan. I don't lose sleep over it, I hadn't given him a thought in years tbh. He happened to crop up in a thread about Di Maria and how we seemingly have bad luck with Argentinians. Some of which did grow up in the slums I'm not really sure what your problem is to be honest!?!
Simply stating that between Irwin and Evra, Heinze has been as good as anybody, wasn't comparing him with either
I would say he was as good as Evra was in his first 18 months or so but that's just my opinion. Agree about the rest. His only problem was the long term injuries. He knew his time at United was over. Fergie was treating him like a pariah. I remember Ronaldo coming over to the bench after scoring as a public show of support for Heinze who was his mate. Heinze was finished at the club. I didnt want him to move to Liverpool either but given the circumstances I didnt feel any personal angst towards him. Partly bcos I knew there was no fcking way it was going to happen anyway with Fergie in charge.
He was useful in our transitional period and that first title of the oil money era. Recall he covered in midfield or centre back at times too.
I know, I was being a bit sarcastic. Irwin was a manager's dream player. Outstanding at what was expected of him but could also contribute in other areas ie free kicks. By all accounts he was never any trouble either. Actually on reflection, Cashley wasn't fit to lace Irwin's boots as he couldn't take a free kick and proved himself to be a first class bell end on several occasions!
Irwin was a perfect professional and at the top in his position. Before him I have a soft spot for Arthur Albiston who was a hero of mine during my teenage years.
You are so provincial. I bet you refuse to eat cheeseburgers and hate that dreadful racket.... What do they call it ... Funk. And as for that racket they call hip hop....
