It's an absolute shambles. Dreadful way to start the season. De Gea can't be considered as he wants to leave. Valdes can't be considered as he's been told to leave. Lindegaard can't be considered as the club want to sell him. Romero can't be considered as he's not had enough time with the squad. So Sam Johnstone will most likely start although he wants a loan move so he can get games. He'll probably stick Rooney in goal.
I thought we got the Argentina No1 as a replacement for DG. Lloris would be have been great but he's done his wrist the pratt!!
Surely Romero was bought to replace Valdes. The fact he's played nearly 70 games for Argentina suggests that he's no mug but he was Monaco's number 2 keeper last season. To be honest, I'm disappointed in De Gea. United spent big money on him when he was just a prospect and they stuck with him when he was dropping every other cross. Now he's developed into the 2nd best keeper in the world, you'd expect some loyalty. He's young enough to do a Ronaldo ie stay another year and ensure that he's on a long enough contract that United at least recoup their investment in him. As I said, disappointing.
On De Gea lets just see how it plays out. We'll have this for the next 3 weeks. If he stays he stays, if he goes he goes. We do need to consider whether buying defensive midfielders is going to be enough to cover our overall weakness in defence though.
Maybe LVG wants to see how De Gea is going to react. If he puts his head down and trains hard, and tells the boss he wants to play despite the transfer speculation, then LVG may well play him and hopefully he'll see out the rest of the season. If he's happy to sit out until the transfer occurs then LVG was right to leave him out, his head is not in the right place and we may as well play a keeper that will be playing the rest of the year like Romero. Another consideration is if De Gea will be sold this month. If LVG knows we're likely to sell De Gea this month then there's no point playing him...
Are we in mass panic mode then? Relegation, lvg out, woodwars out, hope de gea breaks a nail or eats a gone off donut? Cool. Though of de geas head isnt 100% committed, then he shouldnt play. By all accounts hes very much torn and wants it resolved one way or the other.
They do want him clearly. These days the price is the last thing that's sorted between the clubs. Just look at RVP's transfer to Fenerbache as the most recent example.
No mate nobody's in mass panic mode. What makes you suggest that or are you getting carried away again? You remember in the Gulf war when the Iraqi press officer used to come out and say everything was perfectly fine, how Iraq was winning the war, and how they were going to drive the Americans into the arabian sea despite everyone and his wife knowing that the reality was something else? Was he related to you by any chance?
