The phrase 'Very close' is going to be the new punchline on the street. It could replace 'back next week'.

    TWT as always.

Registering a player and naming the squad for a particular game are two completely different things.

We don't have to announce the signing of Odubajo until we release the team-sheet tomorrow if we want.

But we have to have signed him by noon today don't we?

You're right we can announce it whenever we want.

Bruce certainly thinks so - "We hope that we can get him tied up today. Whether that’s between now and midday is questionable."

We could Leave it until KO but I'd have thought that would have a negative impact on the attendance, I can't see much sense in doing that. Possible but unlikely.

I don't think many will be going just to see Odubajo. I think they might be going to watch City.

"We hope that we can get Moses tied up today," said Bruce, ahead of training this morning.

"Whether that's between now and midday (the cut-off to be available to face Huddersfield) is questionable.

"We've signed him for the next three years, not just for one game. We've been trying to get a double deal for the two of them (Odubajo and Gray). We've had to separate them.

"Moses has been here for five days since we triggered the deal so it's unfair on him to wait. We expect him to be done today."

On the chase to land Gray, Bruce added: "We're close. It's not quite done but it's very close. I thought at times yesterday that it was done but it's still not quite there.

"We made a bid that was rejected and then we made another bid yesterday that was rejected as well, but it's still ongoing. Let's hope we're getting closer."

Bruce also admitted his ongoing interest in signing Scotland international Shaun Maloney, currently on the books of MLS side Chicago Fire.

Despite City agreeing a fee with Turkish side Trabzonspor for Dame N'Doye, the Senegalese striker was still training with the club this morning".

There'll be people going to see new signings, and the more new signings, the more likely they'll go.

I think people will just be happy the football is back, don't think anyone's going to look up whether we have Odubajo signed or not to decide whether to go.

Rumour has it the sole reason for pass sales going down is because we released Sagbo. Looks to be fact if you ask me. :p

The more new signings of the calibre of the two Brentford lads, the less the probability that SB will play in the same mundane fashion as last season, this will increase attendances.

Alex Bruce looks unlikely to be involved when Hull begin their Championship campaign at home to Huddersfield.

Bruce, so on Tigers boss Steve, has been nursing an Achilles injury and he will probably run out of time to prove his fitness ahead of Saturday's opener.

However, fellow defender Harry Maguire is fit and will be included in the squad after recovering from a ankle problem.

Ryan Taylor, Sam Clucas, Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom have recently been added to the ranks and all four players could make their debuts for the club against the Terriers.

Huddersfield boss Chris Powell is hoping to select his starting line-up from a fully-fit squad.

Strikers Ishmael Miller and James Vaughan have both had a disrupted pre-season and have missed game-time due to niggling injuries, but are expected to be included in Powell's squad.

Midfielder Jonathan Hogg has also missed part of pre-season through injury, but returned to play the second half of the recent friendly defeat at Barnsley.

Summer signings Dean Whitehead, Jason Davidson, Kyle Dempsey, Jordy Hiwula and Martin Cranie are all in contention to make their competitive debuts for the club.
