Everything hinges on signing a striker IMO. We have improved the defence and midfield considerably and Lens will add dynamism up front, but we need a goalscorer or it'll be another season of struggle.

I think they're underestimating Advocaat's managerial abilities though. No way will we finish bottom with him in charge.

    No we don't.

We got six points last year, and the year before.

I'll ask again. How many points have we amassed over the last few seasons?

Dicks points would have taken us into around 10th. This season is all about dick advocaat you have to forget the past results.

So? If you want to pick arbitrary periods of games, Leicester will win the league. We'll just forget about the first 3/4ish of the season shall we.

Yes he may be a good manager, but you can only do so much. The core of the squad remains the same, and they have struggled to 39 points consistently.

Keeping the relegation battle at arms lenghth will do me.

Lawro has us to draw 1_1, makes a change from losing 2_0 which is his usual thoughts about us, ad for the other pundits f___ them.

    Enough to keep us up.

IMHO we've strengthened the squad, have a very experienced coach in charge ( albeit with limited EPL experience ) and are moving in the right direction. Agree that we need to shift some of the deadwood but I think we've made a good start. If we can start to climb the league to mid-table mediocrity we then stand a chance to attract further players of the calibre we need.

I just hope there's a lot of succession planning going on already so we have a suitable replacement for DA when he hands his training bib in.

    I hope that too.

I agree too we have strengethened and building in the correct manner, slowly and surely.

Its just like Wigan, for years did just enough. Staying up, barely, for a few seasons and people are astonsihed to see that people have us down to struggle. It a reasonable assumption.

I'm not astonished and I understand the predictions - but we are not the only club in that situation with that type of record. WBA have Pulis and that's enough, according to everyone. Newcastle top half? Is that because of McLaren and Wijnadum? A manager who couldn;t get Derby into the play offs and a player who no-one knows will succeed (much like our signings - although I think he's a very good signing TBH) - Villa have struggled the last few much like us!

Just hope DA gets the same from the players he did last term. Can;t wait to see what happens

Also if you took the Newcastle run in along with Leicester? Newcastle would have finished bottom it's all ifs.

We are tipped by the pundits to do crap on recent seasons. So they are correct.

But now is the time to prove them wrong on this season.

A lot of the predictions will have been written a couple weeks back, nobody knows at this point.

It's normal that we'd be seen as a team around the bottom, lets not forget many had Southampton to go down after last years exodus.

Lawro says he thinks we'll be relatively comfortable in fact.
