Carragher? Time history is clear enough that he was only ever in squad due to covering as a utility back and the likes of upon etc were picked ahead of him too. He chucked it in as a result.
@Gerrez - good shout on Carragher. Hopefully Gomez can go the same way. The concerning thing is that Carragher made that transition under Houllier/Rafa - both of whom were brilliant defensively. Gomez, along with the rest of the defence don't have that benefit - they are working under really poor coaches (defensively).

DM then CB then LB then Winger, that should be our priority in terms of who we need. Moreno can do a job, not worth spending £15m on a marginally better replacement
I would say yes. CM needed as we have 5 players for 3 places and 2 are not great at that. Should be top priority Then cb should be next with Toure the guy to replace. We do have enough there. Lb is a problem.... I think moreno can't defend well positionally poor, mindset to sprint back not jog back is missing and he let's players go..... gomez seems only real back up..... all in all I think a buy here is needed. .... winger? To replace lallana or markovic maybe but not to add again imo. All other positions should be one out one in
Look at SOD's defensive record at his clubs and it's not great And Mac has limited experience of coaching full stop. So it's not to do with anti-Rodgers bias whatsoever.
But the same is said about all of our defenders really bar Sakho - they're all poor. In Moreno's case, he's young and new to the country. Skrtel and Lovren have no excuses for their sh*t positioning and lack of concentration. Now, Moreno has been poor - no excuses but this is a lad who was very solid at Sevilla who have achieved more than us under Rodgers. Rodgers is not a great defensive coach full stop - and as much as I hate Skrtel and Lovren, they're not helped by this either.
Skertl on a new deal... lovern is on year 2 of 5.... sahko is positionally a nightmare to rodgers.... The reality is fir all of them it is one out one in and someone has to buy them. Toure is creaking badly and is only there as filler. His position will be free at end of this season so it's a priority to replace him... all 3 others can play lcb so a rcb is the priority. I also didn't say replace moreno but get another in there. Same at cm... buy one and the look to add more as Lucas and Allen are sold off too. That's an awful lot of business over more transfer windows.
Individual errors leading to goals last year. Lovren league high 7 Skrtel just behind on 5 Pretty damming. Lovren is new, maybe tried to impress so I'm ok with giving him another season, he actually wasn't as bad at the back end when he had been dropped for a bit. Skrtel though, he's been poor for last 5 years bar one decent year he had 3 years ago when City then wanted him for 20m which we should have taken (hindsight is wonderful).
Especially when you consider he only played in twenty six league games (more than I thought) but got a league high And I said sell at the time for Skrtel too. It was back when I was the lone ranger in disliking him before others jumped on board
You disliked him after his only good season, but now you're a fan and defend him even though last 2 years he's been pants
Actually, I disliked him the season before his only good season. I backed off that year because he'd played so well. I've never defended him bar against Jimmy (well, why not...? )
Not us but Yann M'Vila as joined Sunderland. Will be interesting to see how he does considering previous links and big talk etc
