    Romania's high ranking is a mystery. They've beaten no one of note in ages, and in their biggest matches of the last couple of years - the two-leg WC playoff against Greece - they failed abjectly against a team that is now struggling horribly.

    They're top of a weak Euro group, but only just.

    it is strange a you say. my suspicion is that as the rankings are based on games of the last four years the increase in their ranking figure may be down to the removal of a bad run in 2011 from the matches their figure is based on.

    I had a laugh when I seen Australia at 62, we are clearly a lot better than quite a few above us

    four years is a long time to base rankings on, though older games count for less.

    I'm heading into work and looking forward to seeing a gobby Aussie colleague who described in great detail how australia were going to smash us last night

    It's going to a good Friday for the English folk in Oz today....
