Hmm... he's relatively young. Not a bad player but not outstanding... yet. Not a bad signing as a backup in this league.
Funny one, as he's not exactly young. Presume CR/LF has seen something that they believe others have clearly missed. Clearly a gamble, hardly likely to be an expensive one.
I think it's about having a bit of death. There seems to be a bit of a drought of defenders in football in general. Everyone is struggling to get a good 8 or so defenders.
Hoping you mean depth!!! And suspect you are right. I'm glad CR isn't rushing to buy any old defender...
At least if we get 7 or 8 serious injuries in midfield we won't notice as we've got so much cover! A defender or two would be nice at somepoint as well!!
Yes, I meant depth! What happened to getting that Hall bloke, the one who trialed in the Atalanta game? I'm not saying he'll be the signing of the century but is just what we need at the moment, really. He seemed composed and has decent control of the ball, plus he has a decent history.
It would be a shame if Doughty didn't get a chance. Never seems to look out of place. I guess Luongo is nailed on to be first choice. Faurlin too when fit you'd think but he could break down ten minutes into the first game. Apart from that, who is there? Sandro- could turn up any time probably unfit. Rarely stays fit anyway. Diakite- mad, bad, sad. Henry- getting on a bit. Most people think he's crap. Fer-will probably go at some point, rarely stays fit for long. I've probably missed someone out but apart from Doughty, if you can call him a senior player, those are the senior central midfield players.
You say that now, but wait until your other mids pick up mysterious chest-high puncture wounds that knock them out of action for a while:
Another midfielder? What are they on? That's the last place we should be recruiting. We desperately need a CB or two and perhaps another goal scorer for when Charlie leaves us on the last day of the transfer window.
Correction - Don't you mean ..... 'Rarely stays' Can't see Mr Round-the-world-in-30-days' coming back to us. He's burnt his bridges or should l say, working visa.
There seem to be a few 'cloak and dagger' signings, Konchesky, Gobern, so I am hoping that Sir Les and Chris have a few defenders lined up too.
