My view is that I don't care how many immigrants come in as long as they are atheists. Religion is the real threat to the stability of the country and to peace in the world. It's quite simple really,once they become infected with religion it's a mental illness and they will do anything to further their own superstitions. It needs to be stamped out before it destroys us all. Immigrants should be required to declare that they are free from infection.
It is, but that freedom must be universal. We cannot have a certain section of the population telling others that they dress in a a specific way or curtailing their freedom to be educated. My stance is actually from a libertarian point of view. We have had hundreds of years of the persecution of atheists and secularists due to stupid superstitions. Time for these fairy stories to be confined to the dustbin of history.
We, Europe and the West as a whole have a major dilemma because we simply cannot keep letting migrants come in and then support them through various handouts. I am sickened by the loss of arable land to build houses for more and more people, it all has to stop. Our 0.7% aid budget could be better employed building houses in distant lands to improve people's lives rather than continuing to give money to India and possibly still China for example who are probably wealthier than us now.

No, but seriously, if you post a quote such as that one it can only be assumed that you feel it pertinent to our current situation. America did indeed offer opportunity to many poor and persecuted people, but it was a vast underpopulated country. I doubt that many of the Jewish immigrants were anything other than grateful to escape from the pogroms. I think the trouble with the current situation is that we really have no idea how many Islamic militants are mixed in with the genuine asylum seekers and they will be seeking to come here to commit mayhem. It is only a matter of time before we witness a Sousse style attack here in the UK.
Well, if you still want to talk about 19th century America as a comparison, I'm certain there was plenty of antisemitism going around America back then, and not just from Joe Public (possibly similar levels to today's Islamophobia). They still saw past that and let them in. Forgive me if I am skeptical of people citing 'Islamophobia' as the main reason for refusing entry to asylum seekers. I feel that sort of reasoning is a very convenient shroud for other feelings towards what are essentially desperate, unfortunate victims of persecution.
England has become the most overcrowded major country in Europe. Population growth is so rapid that four times as many people will soon be crammed in as France and twice as many as Germany. England has overtaken the Netherlands to become second only to tiny Malta as the most densely populated nation in the EU. Basically we can't carry on taking migrants at the current rate just do the maths everyone. Germany's population is circa 80M the UK's is circa 65M now compare the land mass of the two. We've taken more than our fair share of migrants and I say enough is enough.
Out of interest, what is our 'fair share' of migrants? You seem to be very confident that we've hit some sort of a threshold. Bloody Poles, coming over here, fixing the stuff we've broken. Reading the instructions we're too illiterate to read, doing a better job of maintaining things, at a cheaper rate, and in a second language too! Bloody Indians and Pakistanis. Coming over here and diversifying our national cuisine! Bloody Huguenots. Coming over here from 18th Century France, questioning transubstantiation and the role of the Church! Now, now don't put words in my mouth JK, my point is that other larger far, far less populated countries should be taking in a lot more in, how anyone can argue that point is beyond me I'm afraid.
Furthermore, I'm fairly certain that Germany (for example) takes in substantially more asylum seekers than we do.
