Cheers Stan, I'v never heard this before but love it! My 1st match was a home win against Portsmouth in 87. I was 11 years old and we won 2-1. I had my Dad, Brother, Granddad and three cousins with me. A very happy day out with the family I will cherish forever! I also remember being very amused seeing my older Brother who was only 14 at the time being given a very stringent search by the security on the way in. My dad was lived.
You won't have heard of them mate, pretty obscure. I only picked up on them when I heard who they were - both used to work where I did my first job, in 1983, and Dave Rippingale the singer was still there. One of the wittiest men I've ever met, very very funny. They didn't form the band until a couple of years later I think, and I haven't seen them since 1983.......(I only lasted 6 or 7 months in that job). They have another couple of great football songs, '4 English Football Grounds' and 'The Highland League'. I'll see if they are on YouTube.
Not sure they'd appreciate that, huge fans of the Fall. And Palace. It was 3 English Football Grounds, not 4. Prices have changed since this was recorded, but they are still going strong despite being even older than me.
Sorry about the Jona Lewie comparison, sounds very similar the first one, or at least that's instantly what came to my mind. Anyway cheers for sharing that, they have a new fan now
I'm a sucker for a bit of Jangle Pop, I discovered these while being directed from another band I like on Youtube.....
Was listening to some Wacko today, say what you like about him but through the 80s he made some brilliant music...
