I'm pretty sure he aren't giving him to PSG so the actual cost will be less. He was a flop though, yeah. Spineless sack of ****.
Bale would be a great signing, as would Pedro. Given Di Maria looks to be on his way they are both right up there as easily good enough to come in. In Woodward's defence, he like very one else assumed Ramos was actually available so went for him. What's the issue with that, we could do with a bit of class leadership in defence? We've got to assume he's now after an alternative. As for this only signing players who want to join us, without being too facetious, is he supposed to send out a general invite at closed season for all interested parties to get in touch?
Tbf to Woodward he has brought in Fellaini, Mata, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, Bastien, Schneiderlin, Depay, Di Maria, Falcao etc so he hasn't done to bad. Granted the prices for some are ridiculous but everyone knows that your squad needed major surgery and therefore you had to pay what clubs demanded.
In isolation there's nowt wrong with going after Ramos. Trouble is it's not in isolation. It's been a recurring pattern for the last 3 summers. Everyone agrees we need leadership in CB. We also need a proven striker. One or the other will do. I would prefer he had targets (even big name ones) of his own who he went after (rather than waiting to read about who the next big name that fancies a move is on Metro). Nothing unusual in wanting that. It's what most big clubs (including United under Gill) tend to do. (ridiculous overuse of brackets there)
Agree. Very surprised you didn't go all out for Hummels. I know BD said he's not for sale but had you offered 35-45 million for him there's no way they'd have turned that kind of money down, Surprised you haven't bought another striker too, unless you've been waiting to ship out ADM so that you can sign Bale (or maybe Ronaldo )
I think that last paragraph sums up the problem. This has been the furore ever since Fergie left. Whenever a big name looks disgruntled or is rumoured to be leaving which club are they being linked with?? Chelsea, Arsenal, City?? No, it's largely United. The fact we seem to entertain this BS everytime, is distracting us from actually targeting the areas/players we need. The irony is we're not going to tackle the "major surgery" unless we drive it.
He's meeting the owners of PSG??? On a more interesting note, I was once on a plane that had to carry out an emergency landing in Doha due to a bomb scare on board.
I would have liked to have seen him give it one more season at United but he seems desperate to leave so he has to go. Giving up so quickly suggests a lack of character.
Getting a second chance at a team he originally wanted to go to I can understand his choice, going awol when he said he was going to be on a plane is a sure mark of weak character and a sign he would not make it at Old Trafford.
We have to avoid players like this. At least under Fergie we prided ourselves in steering well clear of signings such as this. Ramos I bet would have been another.
Pinched this from somewhere else. Dont know how much truth there is to it but reading it, I believe some of it may very well be... http://www.theunitedpages.com/exclusive-angel-wrangle/
