Chelsea toothless upfront without Costa it seems much like they were at the end of last year.

Think you've missed the point here. It's not so much that he needs money, it's the cynical manner in which he goes about getting it.

I wouldnt be surprised if he thought so before the defeat. Thats how cynical I think he is. It's no different to the point he proved to the heirarchy and fans at Real in his first game in charge against Barca. If you're willing to throw a game like that to get what you want I really wouldnt put it past him to do the same here.
