Without getting this thread more upset there are some reports suggesting that Cecil's brother who took over the pride after his death and did not kill Cecil's cubs was shot and killed by another hunter on another farm next to the park today. They seem a little unsure if it is Cecil's brother but I geuss it might be.
Lions are majestic beasts though. I'm struggling to think why anyone would kill one. Big cats are just ****ing boss.
My neighbors are always on about killing the mountain lion on my street. They leave pets out at night and then they disappear. If you have Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Bears, Coyotes, Foxes and all kinds of birds of prey on your street it's your fault your pet dies if you leave it out. They think though they all need to die. Luckily nothing walks around much in the day due to the heat so in general they are safe.
Same thing applies when people swim in water where sharks also swim. I know humans are top of the food chain but if you're dumb enough to go into a shark's habitat and get killed then I've no sympathy. Not a tragedy; Darwinism at its finest. Then again I'm a sociopath and perhaps normal people show sympathy when people die in shark attacks. In fact, if humans want to hunt for sport, they should do it unarmed and completely naked. Sport is fair and the lion doesn't have a gun or wear clothes; neither should the hunter. If you kill a lion for sport with your bare hands and bollock-naked then fair play to you as the lion was fairly beaten. My money would be on the lion though.
You see the video from last year in Cali where the dudes are illegally fishing for sharks off a dock in a popular beach and are chumming with blood for it? They laugh as a shark attacks a surfer after being caught on their line all while they are filming it.
Eventually after the swimmer screams a bunch due to being bit by a shark they start to realize that someone being attacked by a shark isnt funny and they stop laughing. I think they were charged with a few crimes but I dont remember for sure. It was a Great White which is apparently really funny when it attacks someone due to you fishing illegally.
I am just setting off for a couple of dives at Swanage the objective is to see a pipe fish. Only ever seen one before, they fit in the palm of your hand and are quite shy. Then off to the chippy for haddock and chips!
That second paragraph is bollocks. Ok when talking about a Lion isn't it. Would you say fair play if someone went out and murdered a load of cats or small dogs with his bare hands? Sport isn't fair.
Folk don't need to talk about it all of the time, although they might well donate to the RSPCA, etc. Who do it for them. Perhaps you should consider it pathetic that you find the need to criticise on that very shallow basis?
Agreed, as I know quite a few and they shoot far, far more than they can eat - some don't even like game, which infuriates me.
I hear what you're saying, but isn't a pet being taken a timely warning that a child might be next? They don't always hunt in the day, but they would if easy and hungry enough.
No not really, I think it's incredibly ****ish to change your opinion or the amount you care about a cause simply because it's seen as trendy to do so. Then once the media hype dies down you abandon it. Which is exactly what will happen here, the guy will apologise, go on Leno and fade away.
I've always cared and not changed my opinion. Not jumping on any bandwagon. Not something I do or have ever done is bandwagon jumping. I don't need celebrities to tell me that an American dentist shooting a lion dead is a very bad thing.
You seem to be making more judgments about folk than they are about your islanders, with far less evidence.
Corporate and middle class benefits - such as the trillions paid to support house prices - are far far greater than those paid out to the poorest members of our society. And profit comes from the exploitation of others' labour, so why not, for a second, try and look at the world in a different way?
