There's nothing wrong with having a plan B Ponders...

In BWP, Hayes and Benson i have no doubt we have one of the best quartets of forwards in League One... However... Hayes and Benson are pretty similar and BWP has a tendency to miss his fair share of games through injury.

All I'm saying is that we could do with a forward who offers us something different.

Maybe Williams can, maybe he can't... Lets have a more prolonged look at him before making any rash decisions (after all he's not even played a full game for us yet).

IMO (you can stop reading now) with the class green showed at welling it would be hard to see waggy playing there much, so why have him as 4th fwd and 2nd winger? He knows how to score :)

Well greens banned for the season opener so whoever plays in that position needs to have a blinder to stay in the side...i`m really looking forward to it.

I agree, Franco, there is nowt wrong with a Plan B. But I meant as in seeing Sam Williams as just a Crouch type player to lump on with 15 minutes to go.

To be honest, I wish we would ditch Benson. I think he is useless.

Sorry dont think teh boy is good enough. His goalscoring record over the years is poor. Do we really need players that Yeovil are releasing ?

The key point we have to consider is who is the goalscorer if BWP gets injured?

I think Williams needs a lot more looking at. The way the Yeovil fans have acted doesn't sound bitter. More like us with a lisbie type, no surprise he missed from there kind of comments. He's never been prolific and one decent goal and a easy miss doesn't qualify him by height in my eyes

At this level Hayes is a proven 15-20 goals a season man. Williams is a 20 goals a career man !

I think he looked ok against Welling, and agree that he might be worth a longer look.

Really Ponders...? He may not be the most gifted of players of that I'm sure we can agree. But WHEN, not if WHEN BWP gets injured i can think of few better out and out goalscorers at this level than Benson to take his place.

With the right service he will score goals and lots of them!!

I agree Franco Benson is alot better than some of our fans give him credit for...he misses quiter a few games last season injury suspension and his goals were in double figures despite that and despite not getting the service he thrives on and that Green will provide.

It's very well possible CP has a set budget for a 4th choice striker, and Williams fits the bill.

That said, I think Waggy should convert to a striker. He can strike the ball, but for the some apparent reason can't cross it.

Good shout Super... I've long fancied Waggy as a striker. Not sure he'll get his chance to play there with us though.

I'm absolutely convinced that if you whip regular balls into the box, in and around Benson he WILL score bundles of goals... Like you say... for him to get into double figures with the distinct lack of service and games last season was a minor miracle imo.

I'm more excited than a kid in a sweet shop at Christmas time about this coming season... :smiley-finger007:

Having searched a number of Yeovil fan forums, it seems their fans didn't even rate him as a target man, let alone an out and out striker. That said, he looked alright against Welling, so maybe he will be given another look-in.

I agree that with Greens service, Benson should be able to put in a lot more goals.
