Saw a mate last night who supports Everton as is usually pretty reliable with his knowledge about them (probably is another forum like this where he gets info from) and he seemed confident that Everton want VVD if Stones goes to Chelsea
More confirmation, if we needed it, that another CB is seemingly imminent for us. SPORT: BBC Wiltshire understands Jordan Turnbull is returning to Swindon Town on season long loan from Southampton.
Turnbull was always going back on loan. It's Stephens going on loan that was the indication we're signing another CB.
Yeah.! How can I square my impatience with the need for the PL to start and yet give Saints enough time to sign Van Dijk.? And... by the way, I've been waiting for over two years. Would help if Celtic would just hurry up and lose.! [no offence and all that, hoops fans].
Correct. Nice to know that at least one other poster is as relaxed as me regarding his next destination. With Beefy that makes two!
Well, relaxed is possibly too laid back a word for it these days. I wanted Van Dijk before Lovren got his chance here, so I'm starting to fidget somewhat.
Agree - there's a reason almost every club does most of their business in the last few days of the window. It's a huge clearing house effect. We, as a fish way down the food chain, need to wait for the big fish to make all their final moves.
The Scottish Sun is reporting we've made an 8m bid for Virgil. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6524746/SunSports-daily-transfer-round-up.html
That is changing and I don't believe quite so true anymore. It certainly has an affect amongst the top four, but look at how many teams have done their business already. Look at us. If we are getting Virgil, it's because if Celtic's CL qualification, not the domino affect of the big boys.
I admire how Les does things, but for this one, if celtic want 10m, offer them 10m because other teams will sneak in and add pressure. Get his name on a contract and be done with it.
Yeah, the big clubs are happy to wait for us to take the risk, turn them into a better player then pay twice the price we paid to buy them. Doesn't sound to bad to me if we get 2-3 years service at least out of them. Think it's the only sustainable model that will work for Saints.
