In the words of Michael Winner "calm down dear". I think a lot of people on here are freaking out over the Carroll money and its whereabouts and also the squad depth for next season. We always new that Ashley is a bullshitter and it was unlikely any of the money would be spent however how about we all shut up about it and see what comes by the end of August. On the squad depth, again I think we are blowing it out of proportion. We have at least 2/3 players for most positions and we have youngsters that are eager to step in. See below

    GK

    HARPER
    KRUL
    FORSTER

    RB

    SIMPSON
    TAVERNIER-ALSO CAN PLAY CB
    R TAYLOR-ALSO CAN PLAY RM

    CB

    WILLIAMSON
    COLOCCINI
    S TAYLOR
    KADAR

    LB

    JOSE ENRIQUE
    FERGUSON-CAN ALSO PLAY LM

    RM

    BARTON
BEN ARFA-CAN PLAY ANYWHERE IN ATTACKING 3RD

    CM

    CABAYE
    GUTHRIE
    TIOTE
    GOSLING-CAN ALSO PLAY RM
    VUCKIC
    SMITH

    LM

    JONAS
    MARVEAUX

    ST

    LOVENKRANDS
    BEST
    BA
    AMEOBI

That is a decent squad of 25 with players who can play more than 1 position. I would be as happy as the next man if we brought in 2/3 new faces but I think with the squad we have the now its not the end of the world and we can still more than compete. Kepp the faith and stop the complaining. Onwards and upwards starting with Darlo tonight. TOON TOON

We are strong in a lot of areas but look at that list of strikers. That's not a premier league quality strikeforce, apart from Ba. Its really ****.

If you look at every other team we are competing with though there striking options are not much better if at all. I honestly think Best and Ba would strike a formidable partnership if given a chance in a 4-4-2 formation!!

Best is like Marmite. I think he is really poor, some ppl agree, some ppl think he is decent.

However, what if Ba gets injured and best gets a suspension.. We're back to shola and lover, which is terrible.

when enrique goes , do u give ferguson a chance(but very little/no cover for him) or try to sign to sign a decent LB and use ferguson as cover. I hope we see a lot more of ferguson this season.

We need to sign another LB when/if Jose goes. If the worst came to the worst a wouldn't be overly concerened playing Fergie or Kadar there with 1 starting 1 as back up!!

Agree things not as bad as some make out but we do need to progress not stand still.
We definately look light in quality up front, need cover/competition at left back and a real specialist RM.
I am confused as to how Chris Hughton then Alan Pardew not to mention the press and tv pundits last season constantly went on about our Small squad yet now having lost Carroll, Campbell and Nolan, with others set to leave and only signed 4 players including youngster Abeid we suddenly now get told we have quite a big squad. Not the maths i did at school. I dont go for the con that Gosling and Ben Arfa are new signings. Agreed that they might seem like it and give us a boost but nonetheless both were part of last seasons squad and long injuries can happen in anyones squad anytime but it does'nt make those players no longer a part of that squad.
Btw as you include players strongly linked with leaving like Smith and Best (who i agree should stay) then you should still include Ranger, Routledge and Perch for the moment too.

Its not just about extra cover, we could add in our under 18s to that list but what we need is premiership players not also rans.
we will not score enough goals if its left like this
